His Lordship, Ken Bruce has just advised that he is leaving his R2 show at the end of March. It's bad enough having to put up with the awful Scott Mills in the afternoon, I'm trying but it just isn't happening, but to lose Ken :eek::cry:. Easily the best broadcaster on the station, he will be a huge loss.

I'm hoping they will go with Gary Davies, he his excellent when he fills in. If it is another R1 exile then that will be too much.

Is Gary Davies not ex-Radio 1?

My missus has got one of those sunshine alarms with a built in FM radio. It's great, but the downside is having to listen to Zoe Ball. It's that bad that sometimes we are forced to turn it off, turn on the DAB radio instead, and listen to Chris Evans.

I tried to listen to Radio 2 the other week when my courtesy vehicle didn’t have DAB ?
Awful, the music was like it’s designed to be played in a care home ?
An interesting point of view as most of the 'dedicated' R2 listeners are complaining that that the music is becoming too modern and dancy/poppy with younger presenters ruining the well established shows.

He is but he has been out of it for so long that he has successfully morphed into a R2 man. R1 dj's are too shouty, bouncy and excitable. I want calm.

We have R2 on at work in the factory but keep the volume down until Zoe Ball has finished her show. She is painful.

Can't be bothered with R2...much prefer Radio 6 Music. My Mrs isn't a fan of that so we'll listen to LBC Nick Ferrari (I don't seem to engage with Today). But he and some of his callers just too often get on my t**s (though even he seems to be getting a bit fed up with how things are and the answers he gets to questions he poses to individuals who would consider him to be on their side) and so have started to listen to Times Radio. Mostly Radio 6 Music in the pm and evening.

I wonder if Ken decided to jump before being pushed after Steve Wright was ousted...
Well, the Beeb have ousted a number of older dj's recently so that may well have been in the back of his mind. They are definitely trying to bring in a younger group of presenters. I know things have to evolve but they seem in a bit of a rush.

I can sort of see what they are doing, they want Radio 1 listeners to gravitate to Radio 2 as they get older but there are times when the gap between the 2 is just a bit big and so they have to re-focus radio 2 to a younger audience. This will always alienate those who have been with the station for quite a while. Given up on the radion now aside from news and sports shows as not really found at station that fits me aside from some of the Absolute stations when I am in the car.

When I first heard him (on my car radio) in the early 1990's he warned us about flooding in a place called Largoward in Fife.
How did he know that's exactly where I was?
Ever since my favourite R2 presenter.
