Ken Bruce is leaving.....Noooooooooooo

It's just been announced that Vernon Kay will be taking over Ken's slot. I've heard him cover Steve Wright's show in the past, another Radio 1 style presenter, not for me. The staff already turn over when Scott Mills comes on, I can see R2 being binned off in the factory full stop now.

It's a big transformation of presenters to do in a short space of time and I can see it alienating a lot of core listeners.

Not quite sure how Kay manages to steal a career (probably helps that his wife is a BBC mainstay and she's bloody awful as well)
 
Vern isn’t too bad, he is no Ken Bruce like, he is a little ott at times for sure. Tess on the other hand is not good at at all imo, she almost ruins strictly at times for me and the wife.
 
I tuned in yesterday and heard the Popmaster replacement. Not a bad format but the woman I heard was (imho) quick to Google the answers. Ken would have been on that in a heartbeat and the countdown timer brought in sharpish...
 
I'm trying to give it a go, until Ken's new show starts, but I find it too fussy and clunky. It doesn't flow and there too many talkie bits instead of just asking and answering questions.

Every flipping time. This is question number 3 so is worth....wait for it....3 points, unless you play your joker which doubles the points to...wait for it...6 points. This is question 4 which is worth...wait for it...4 points.

Every flipping time! Although just thinking if they had not cheated and got one wrong they go back to 1 point. So maybe I'm being harsh.

That could be a winner. Been listening to Popmaster again this week and loving it. Just need to get used to the new jingles (I hate change so getting used to the new look here is bad enough)!!
