Just went to pick up a G15 3 Wood which has replaced my unusable* Nike Machspeed Black driver via a seller on Gumtree.

Contacted him weeks ago and told him I was interested, but being a disciplined man (read: man with a wife getting angrier by the minute by me cluttering up her house with unwanted clubs) I said I'd have to sell the Nike driver first, which finally I did.

Went and picked it up today. Result! Can't wait to hit it. If it's anything like my 5 wood G10 then I'll be delighted.

Really nice guy as it turns out and we got talking (us golfers love to prattle on) and he mentioned a local store called Kane Golf. He had had a problem with slicing a driver until he bought a custom fitted "Big Easy" offset driver which came with a 30 day "straighter and longer" guarantee when it was purchased.

As his handicap lowered, he moved on to a Taylormade driver and to cut a long story short, he gave me his Big Easy driver FOR FREE!!! Couldn't believe my luck. Lovely fella.

Anyway, to move this piece along, I was really interested in the bold strategy of Kane Golf offering such a guarantee, so much so that I phoned the owner. Really nice guy and really knowledgeable about club manufacturing and golf in general. His claims are very bold and is happy to go head-to-head with TM, Ping, Calloway et al when it comes to fairway woods, irons and rescues and expects BETTER results in terms of distance and accuracy due to the quality of materials used. Magazine articles back up his claims.

Very interesting stuff and I would like to hear from anyone who has dealt with this company before.

I will be sure to post a review about the driver and if results are good (I'm realistic in my expectations, especially considering I'm very new to the game), I will be sure to pop along to purchase a 7 wood from Kane.

*30-60 yard slice every time, sounds like a shotgun at the range and generally a tool for embarrassment.

Yeah Kane golf in hillington well known round glasgow area, quite a few boys in my work bought there irons and drivers when the started golf, all still use their irons to this day a few still carry the drivers. Starter kit at reasonable prices but not my cup of tea.

All irons old callaway clones if memory serves me right and the drivers were ok, had a few decent magazine reviews I seem to remember.

Very interesting, looking forward to part 2 of the story. What shaft is in the Kane driver?

Smallish head size by the looks of the drivers on the site...

Just had a quick look on their website.. £199 for a set of forged blades.. Really.... Seems a tad to cheap to be banging on about the quality of forgings at that price.. In fairness though they look ok apart from the kanegolf.com emblazoned on the back.

Be interesting to hear your reviews though.

There seems to be an up-charge on any shaft you may have actually herd of... Although both my comment above and this one are just observations and they maybe wonderful.

i noticed that there were upgrade charges to more mainstream known shaft brands. But agreed they could turn out to be a very underrated bit of kit. Would like to have a go just to see what the forged irons are like.

Also on yoour comment of driver head size, make you right about it being small by todays standards pretty much everyting is standard 460cc now isn't it. Though I did see a nice Yonex E-Zone (Ishikawa) Special edition 380cc head, which looked loovely and so small behind the ball compared to the regular offerings

Re: head size, it depends what you like. I just got rid of my Nike Machspeed and thought it was quite intimidating behind the ball. Not a good start.

Do others on here believe that it's important that when you hold a club (even in your living room) that some feel 'right' and others don't? Maybe it's just me. I have a good feeling about this club, but I'll need to wait til tomorrow morning.

Completely believe that, I tried all the major brands when I was in search of a new driver but the one that just felt right for me was my G20 some others more attractive out there but it just felt and looked right to me. Good luck with the big easy, be interested to hear how you got on.

Yep, I believe!

Keep us up to date about how you get on with it.
