I was beginning to wonder whether my cup was now half empty from being half full. I won the Winter League two weeks ago with my partner, then I shot just 24 points in the "gold letter" stableford last weekend and was really down as I hit the ball ok and couldn't score.I went to a local par 70 course at Wrotham Heath today - shorter than my home course but fantastic greens - and shot 76 off 12 h/cap!

Not bad for a first vist but I worked hard at the range last night on slowing down my swing and boy did it pay dividends! I just hope that I remember to do it at the weekend! I felt like I was swinging at 70% and think that this could be a eureka moment. It didn't harm length at all - the last hole I played (9th) was a 479 yard par five and I was on with a driver and 3 wood. The only real blemish was a 5 on the 7th, a par 3

Cup now half full again!

I'm an engineer....the cup's the wrong size. Well done for the round. I tell myself the same thing on slowing down and hit some lovely practice swings, the someone puts a ball in front of me and a voice goes KIIIIIIIIILLLLLL IIIIIIIITTT!!!!! Then the swings starts behind one ear and ends behind the other!

My cup is still half full after a 2nd at the weekend (on countback) nine holes only one over handicap (17 points) and then a few hours working on the short game. Pitching and bunkers are right back on song. Putting is getting there but the short game woes are back. Still trying the technique featured in this months mag tomorrow and we're see if that helps. Looks like the linear method (or close to it) and so shouldn't be too alien. All in the rotation of the body through impact.
