Treated myself today to 3 new clubs this afternoon. First is a driver. Ping Rapture 2 and the shaft is bright blue - not sure what it is called as the clubs are in the car and I am in my hotel room! Looks nice and hopefully will go well. Very stiff.

New hybrid....normally I don't go for these as I hit them too high. However I have changed my 5 wood for a Callaway FX hybrid with 17 degrees of loft for no reason apart from a change is as good as a rest.

New putter. I played at St Georges Hill yesterday and would have got 40 points were it not for missing 9 putts under 10 feet. Some were really easy. My putter and I fell out so I bought a new one today called an itsy bitsy by Rossa. Couldn't miss with it in the shop so I am giving it a go.

Anyone got any thoughts or experiences to share on these bats?

Cheers,

Snelly.

Sorry no idea on the clubs, but does your better half know you are in a hotel room and are very stiff ?

Played St Georges Hill a lot. Wonderful course, but from my experience the greens are never that easy.

I've still got my itsy spider and it's pretty good if you have a tendency to twist the face in the swing. Not sure why you'd change to a hybrid if you know you hit them high anyway but hope they all work out for you.

I got a rapture v2 off the pro at our gc for a couple rounds, had diamana blueboard x flex shaft in, when it went, it went miles, but I couldnt find any consistancy.

not sure about the other 2 though, good luck!

how the hell does everyone get to play St Georges Hill ???

i drove through the estate one night many years ago with a mate and couple of girlfiends, but it was likke trying to get into Fort Knox

It is a real rabbit warren. Strangely enough I've never overly enjoyed my golf there. I ALWAYS feel that someone is watching me and waiting for me to break a rule or offend in some way. I just find the whole place way too stuffy.

Bright blue in a Rapture V2?

Must be an after market job or Ping WRX.

I would guess either Aldila VS Proto or possibly a Mitsubishi Rayon Javln which would match the shaft of the V2 fairway woods.

Great driver though, I;m sure you wont be disappointed.

Never had any problems, and the staff are always friendly. Not sure about the members, as i have always played society golf there.

It is an old fashioned place, but i can put up with that for the quality of the golf.

Hi,

Yes it is the Aldila proto.

Just hit them on the driving range. Driver is okay. Hybrid is good.

Thanks for the responses.

As for St Georges Hill, I love going there and have never found any of the staff to be anything less than courteous and helpful.

I think it is a fantastic course in a lovely setting that makes you feel you are in a special place.

The course was in magnificent nick on Wednesday.

I cannot recommend it highly enough and if I lived closer, I woul probably apply for membership.

I did meet the captain at a charity day there, and i am sure he was on the waiting list for something like ten years. He did say he was fast tracked because he was a member of St Georges Hill tennis Club !

My course shares the same centenary (and course architect Harry Colt), so hope we have some sort of reciprocal arrangement that year. Their members will of course be getting the better deal :D :D
