wee cup of orange and a tunnocks tea cake for my deed. also its a small bit of my daily life but i know it goes to folk who need it. and it made me feel good:cool:
hopefully im not too week to skelp AMcC bum roon bogside the moro!!!!

Well done - a tunnocks tea cake too - lush!

I too used to give but have a tendancy to be border-line anaemic plus a bit of a lightweight so they didn't want me anymore. HID fainted every time so they politely suggested he might not come back too!

When I first gave blood, I was too big for the bed and nurses had to keep moving my feet to get around me. It was a very busy session in the works social club.

I keep trying to get my son to give blood as he is 0 negative, so it can be given to everyone.

Well done that man. Without people like you I wouldn't be here.
I would love to give blood but they don't want mine as I had a transfusion in the early 90's and I might be a mad cow now!

im defo a fan of giving blood watched my brother go through gallons of it, so i reckon ive got give 20 times+. plus im trying to be clean living so my organs can be of use to someone later on

I got into giving blood about 5 years ago, after visiting my mum in hospital after a procedure she had done and she was having bloods as a result. It got me wondering how if someone hadn't done such a kind thing then she'd have gone without.

Now I go whenever the blood wagon is in Medway or they have walk in giving sessions. Keep trying to convince my other half to do it but to say she's petrified is an understatement.

Good work to all those that do it and I'm lucky that I'm O negative so anyone can literally have mine.

Is Alan playing the front 9 this time?

;)

I also give blood B+ for me.

In South Africa the health service is not free and you have to pay for any blood you get given. If you are a donor then you get a discount so it encourages you to donate. B neg for me so they would love me to donate more often but the last time I went to donate they wouldn't take it because I had been to a malaria area within the last 18 months.

I am one of the rarer ones as well, have given about 20 times, but the last 3 times i really suffered with bruising badly and it effected my elbow (which is dodgy from my rugby days) so haven't given for about a year, they keep phoning me.. i should do it again and get them to do my right arm..

Gave blood for years , then got a couple of tattoos's & couldnt donate & then missed the next visit or 2 , ,lead to me geting out of the habit & i just stopped , eventualy went back there last year , when guy asked had i been before i said yes bout 5/6 year ago maybe , 12 years he told me . couldnt believe it .. what a waste of years .

doesnt hurt or cost anything cept half hour of your time .. great cause

Good for you. I think everyone should consider donating unless there's a good/medical reason not to. They won't take mine any more since I had a problem with heart arrhythmia, even though it's been fine for 2 years now and they couldn't work out what caused it. I managed to reach 65 donations though, but it could have been a lot more if I had gone regularly since I started at 18. Being group B, which is only 6% of the population made me realise how important it could be to another person, or even myself.

I'll never forget the first time my Dad took me for tea and biscuits, Mam told me he was a tight wad....forgot to tell me about the pint of blood I had to swap for them! I don't know what I am, it's red and sticky though.

But i don't want to be a diabetic .
Slime.

Of course I dont want to be a diabetic but I am. Its a horrible disease and one I wouldnt wish on anyone. As a result I can no longer donate. I was simply replying to a thread about something I feel strongly about and feel everyone who can should.

I would love to be still able to give blood instead of the numerous daily insulin injections I need to take.

Please explain why you felt the need to quote me in your reply?

I was merely injecting a bit of humour into an otherwise serious thread, it was just based on how I read your post, a slight play on words if you will. Obviously no offence was meant and I hope none was taken.
I wasn't trying to belittle the thread as you can see from the rest of my post, the bit you didn't quote.
See below for details.

Seriously though, giving blood is a good thing, a very good thing indeed.

Keep eating like a sumo and you might just need a few jabs a day!
Keep your wise crack remarks in yer pantry.

Now, is Andy being rude or is Andy being humourous, and how does he know I have a pantry? Mmmmmmmmmm.

You have jam running through your veins?????

Careful thecraw, the humour police are lurking!

As I've said at the start of this post, there is a slight play on words. If you don't believe me, ask bigslice.
