just gave blood

I've just registered to donate in a few weeks after reading this, had thought about it before but never did anything, thought there wouldn't be anywhere local to me but there quite a few once I've looked.

Do you generally feel OK afterwards? Will I be OK to drive back or is it recommended to get a lift?

i only started at the end of 2011 at the age of 38. partly because of the unknown and probably lazyness but more likely ignorance.
they look after the first time but its a doddle.
you should look into registering on the donor card aswell. i would also advise that you sit with your family and tell them about the donor card. it saves hassle when the need comes and also gets everyone on the same page etc.
we can do a whole lot when we are alive but also a wee bit more when we leave here for the perfect golf course in the sky

My dad's ben playing there for nearly eighteen months now .......... with a very important organ missing.
When he died we donated his brain, with his blessing obviously, to Parkinson's, formerly known as The Parkinson's Disease Society. It might not change the world but it might just change someone's life!

Slime.

For your first go, i would get a lift. just in case, you dont know how your body will react to losing a pint of the good stuff. I have always been fine to drive, but for the first time, do as they say, eat their biccies and drink their tea and get a lift home...

Make sure you have something to eat and drink before you go and you should be fine.
