I have a few questions that i am hoping a few people could maybe answer me.
In November i am allowed so am starting a job. That will provide me with £££! In Jan-feb time i will be looking at getting some new irons. I think i will be playing off around 15 by then as i am currently playing to about 17 with friends. Would 'players' irons help at all? What are the benefits?
Also... i am currently playing taylormade rac ht. What would you say is the most modern equivalent? Are they extremely forgiving clubs?
Thanks for any help in advance! :D

I wouldn't run before you can walk. Players irons are just that, players irons and 15 hcp is not a player. I know I am the same hcp. I hit brilliant shots 1 minute and tosh the next. I can birdie 1 hole and no return on the next. I had players irons mizuno mp60's and they did nothing for my game. I changed to Mx25's and instantly found my form again. I would stay clear of players irons until you are well into single figures.

Your sig says you are 28 so expecting a massive jump down to 15. Go for X22's or Burner plus or similar mate.

I very rarely play competitions (so far 2 this year)
In competitions i think to much and mess up. Since i have got some friends into it they have got memberships and i just play with them. We do mini comps and i comfortably play off 17. I can easily shoot scores in the 80's but in competitions i think too much and worry. I am going to enter the september medal and the preidents putter this weekend and see how it goes.

Unfortunately, medal is the true test of where you are, not boshing it round with your mates.

Players irons will make the game harder.

One hopes that you will remind us of the above should you ever attend a forum meet????

Haha... I live in germany! :D

So, you struggle in comp's (which you rarely play in) and as such your handicap has gone up this year.
However, you expect that by Jan/Feb 2011 you will be playing off 15.
This assumption coming because you are playing to 17 with your mates?

You'll have to play alot of comp's by the end of summer to come down by 13 shots.........and you'll have to improve even more since at the moment you aren't even playing to 15.

I'd stick with the TM's and learn how to use them first.

Maybe the pink grips are putting you off your game?

If you really must buy new clubs, get out and try as many as you can first. Go in with an open mind. For my money you won't go far wrong with the G15 (or even the new Karsten range) the X24 or similar. It isn't about how clubs look but how they perform. I could go for a shiny set of blades but I'd never get remotely close to my handicap again.

Play competitions regularly first. If you can do it when it counts and do start coming down officially and not just to what you and your mates think, then consider the options. Also, don't forget a lot of new ranges won't be out until early 2011

I am dyyyyyyyyying to get new clubs. Mizuno MP52s!

Yes they are very shiny but I know that they are too good for me, im gonna wait till next year LOL
