After 18 holes today went to the driving range on the way home to iron out a few things.... The driving range has a nine holer attached to it and they must of had a junior event on today - each one with the latest clubs, tour bags etc....

All of this is great to see but i do draw the line at twelve year olds with electric trolleys? Golf is a still a sport isn't it! or is it me?

Why should they smash there backs up carrying clubs? If they play alot they dont need the extra weight to lug round the course.

This is a really good point.

They are not fully developed yet and rarely have the correct straps and adjustments in use. This can lead to life long back problems.
Possibly not electric trollies are needed but I'd try and keep them away from carrying.

No its not, how did everyone else manage 10 - 15 years ago. You had no choice BUT to carry and I dont know of anyone of my friends that I played with who now have problems.
Having said all that its a choice thing shirley, if they want to, and can get the parents to fork out the wedge, then whats the problem?

Get it on yer back and get walking!!

Not developed?!

What excuse does a 21 year old have then....not pointing any fingers Screwback.

No real men left in the world. ;)

I've got to agree with that, real men carry their clubs :D

nothing worse that seeing the able bodied with trollies, and don't get me started on electric trollies. Also buggies should require a medical cert to use them

Agree with the OP and to me it just looks wrong for a junior to have a tour bag and electric trolley. Would rather they carried less clubs in a pencil bag to protect their backs...bless them ;)

I used to think like that till my mother in law gave me her old electric trolley. It means less energy used on carrying and more on golf, it helps later in the round. I dont care about that real man crap. Real men play rugby not golf.

Aye an wear skull caps....poofs.

14 junior clubs + balls etc isn't going to weigh much less than an adult set. Take into account the size difference between a kid and an adult and it's like carting a set and a half around for us.

Can't understand why some people have a problem with things like this.

Well speaking as a 22 year old with an electric trolley I must say its each to there own. I have one due to having bad back problems from when I was 14 and growing up and never really recovered properly. I can play football cricket and will feel it ache but pulling a trolley round 18 holes and I am buggared up for the next few days. Luckily I can click my back back into position when it all tightens up but im sure most people have got a reason for having one whether it is because they dont want the extra weight on there kids backs or whether there is a underlining issue of if kids have to carry then will they see it as a chore and not enjoy it so much so give up golf which in turn means golf could be missing out on some talent.

I say if you can and you want to then should be no problem having one whether you are 10 or 100

Stop calling me shirley  :)

I don't have a problem with it nor with Screwback. Alan plays off 1 those knew may well be on their way to scratch. If they were on tour they'd be able to pay someone to carry clubs for them. Do we say Westwood, G-Mac or Rory are not men as they have someone to carry their sticks? No because they are professionals and want to play their best. And I have no qualms with aspiring youngsters doing the same.

All this machismo real men carry BS is tired. If you want to carry fine but it doesn't make you more or less of a man. And leave the young 'uns alone!

thats even worse, not only is it an electric trolley, but it's a girls electric trolley, :D is it pink??

Kids now days don't know their born, they should carry their clubs with a couple of bricks in the bottom of the bag. That'll toughen them up
