JPX pro hybrid vs JPX pro 3 iron

I've got the 800 pro's irons and hit them well enough up to 4 iron but I'm inconsistent with the 3i.The hybrid is 1 degree stronger @ 19 degrees.

would it be easier to hit than the 3 iron and would the distance be more than just the 1 degree difference? I've never dabbled in the dark arts of hybrids before but am considering going thru to Clydebank for a custom fit for the new range of driver/3 wood.

aye, that's my intention,was just wondering if the hybrid should be longer by more than 1 deg.

I've recently dropped my hybrid as i love my JPX800 Pro 3 iron. I'd suggest to stick with the 3i just now as when the weather improves it'll get easier to hit it. It is very sweet and forgiving when hit well compared to my old error prone hybrid.

Try gripping the club a bit further down the grip to make it 4-iron length with a slightly stronger loft.

That's how I was taught to hit my 3 iron. Now I love hitting it.

But by gripping down I'll lose distance,no?Might as well hit the 4???

im a long iron player myself as i cant hit a hybrid/fairway wood for toffee although im fairly consistent with my driver.

Take a lesson or 2 with the long irons, getting the positioning/stance etc etc correct and trust me you will no longer fear them

a sweetly struck 3 iron shot is quite possibly my favourite moment in a round

Just get to the range and work it through. It sounds like once you have the 3 iron in yourhand you are trying to belt it and probably swinging too hard and gripping it too tight. If you can hit a 4 iron then the 3 isn't that much differenct. As for gripping it down a tad I think any loss of distance will be minimal
