Joshua v Hakam

Takam’s got some guts. Enjoying this

That stoppage tops off one of the worst PPV cards I've ever streamed for free.

The true ability of Joshua starting to show itself now.
Nothing worse than a disappointing freebie

Great fight, so much respect for Takam. Ref stopped the fight too soon - they guy was not flat out on his feet.
Would like to see a rematch whereby Takam would have more time to prepare (admittedly, Joshua had the same little time to prepare for a totally different style of opponent), but I doubt that it will happen with the various commitments that being world champs have.

Not forgetting big congrats to Katie Taylor on her world title success. Never thought that I'd enjoy a female fight as much as I did tonight.

I paid for this PPV, mainly because it was a weak moment after watching Watford v Stoke earlier!

Katie Taylor did a good job and looks a decent boxer. Her opponent was strong but limited, just a come forward approach. KT has nice angles and speed, just needs to work on her defence.

I was looking forward to Whyte v Hellenius as the supposed eliminator for Deontay’s belt. What I saw was barely a Euro level bout. Helenius on the run and Whyte so slow and bang average. Whytes over hand right is a telegraphed thing of slow beauty. Whyte will have no chance v Deontay.

Joshua v Takam. Takam was teak tough but then his record shows that. He is a good fighter but not world level. Joshua wasn’t great last night though. I was expecting more jabbing and selective shot picking but what I was saw was a bit slow, lots of missed shots. Trying too hard and/or just a bit too muscly to be quick and at range? You could argue it was a tad early stoppage but a few shots later I think Takam was going to be sparko. Deontay won’t be losing too much sleep. Let’s see what Deontay does next week.

I agree with most of that except the Whyte part. I've known for ages he's been poor. I don't know why everyone thinks he's some avoided killer. He's British level at best and that's only because the division is so weak. Weakest in the sport. Hellenius was having his way with him until he hurt his hand.

I'd pick a fit Fury to box Joshua's head off quite easily. Wilder would stop him mid to late rounds.

Let's not forget both these opponents were brought in late. Imagine how they'd have gone with a full camp under their belts?

Whyte has absolutely no plan B. He tries to blast people out and when he cant he just looks lost.

Agree with statement regarding fury but, IMO, Wilder is slap bang average. I appreciate that AJ hasnt really fought anyone of note aside from Klitschko but Wilder hasnt fought anyone. AJ took some good lessons from the WK fight, he was poor on saturday but a good AJ wouldnt struggle against DW.

Let’s see what Deontay does next week.

A one round demolition of some rotund heavyweight. Not sure what to make of that. Wilder can only beat what’s put in front of him and he looked great doing it. He was very quick, accurate and mobile. Light too at 15st 9. Obviously has excellent power but Stiverne was clearly not in shape looking barely a pub fighter.

I think Wilder would give Joshua huge problems though and could see Joshua beaten in 7. Fury v Wilder would be harder to call.

On the undercard, the light-heavy Bivol looked superb.

Deontay Wilder is scary, ridiculous power. Hopefully they get it booked for early next year. Gives Fury time to get back into Boxing shape for a showdown with the winner in the summer.

I don't really follow boxing but I saw a clip of the Wilder debacle. How did the other guy get that fight? He was an unfit, overweight tub of lard who just stood there waiting to be hit. That was embarrassing for the sport. Wilder may be a cracking fighter but you can't make any judgements based on that, surely.

People keep mentioning Fury. Is he currently improving as a fighter by not getting in the ring? He is like the injured player who's team is getting thumped whilst he is out. Suddenly they become the answer to everything.

Stiverne was a replacement for Ortiz. A bit like Takam was for Pulev, but far less in shape. Hadn't boxed for two and bit years too!

But he did a proper number on him so that's all you can ask. If it had gone a few rounds then he'd deserve some criticism.

I feel bad for wilder, he was due to fight Povetkin and Ortiz but both failed drug tests.

He clearly wants big fights which is evident in him calling out Joshua who doesn't seem to want it.
