It's come upon me very suddenly, but the signs have been there. Got the Ping irons, a young lad offered to give up his seat on the Tube for me last week, passed 55 yesterday, so eligible for the seniors section at the club. I now don't have to let anyone through. Where was I going with this?

Its frightening how it creeps up.........Pink Floyd got it bang on when they sang "before you know it ten years have got behind you"...

Local hairdresser tried to help me get out the chair recently............WTF!
I can still go up stairs two at a time,
still walk unaided,

but I must look like an old git- how depressing

Have we had Christmas yet?

54 for me yesterday - so absolutely with you bud. Cards from my wife and kids seemed to be on a theme (yer a grumpy old git :-) ). Have you started finding mixed foursomes attractive yet? I've succumbed. But you don't have top let anyone through? Tell me more ya auld git ;-)

If you are anything like the seniors I know and play with you will not have to let anyone through.
You will be held up quite a bit by the young overweight thoughtless posers though.

On the first tee I was relating the fact that my four man Texas scramble team, from the day before , had an average age of 79.

The four ball about to tee of, walked over and proceeded to give their respective ages .... 86,84,83,and 82.

They play if front of our three ball every week and we are never held up and for the clever dick's on here, no - we don't hold up the field either!!

At 55, young Sir, you have many years left to get that swing in the groove!!

i'm a senior next year ( nooooooooooooo!!!!!!) and only have next season to shine, what happens when the clock strikes 12 on your 55th birthday do you suddenly lose 50 yds and your putting goes to pot,do you call every one sonny even when they are over 40,does everything you shrugged off at 54 now become a total nuisance and you get more things to moan about,do you only make mad passionate love 3 times a week ( at least it gives the wife a rest),its a scary time, mind you i could always use the money from the winnings in the seniors tuesday roll up >

Well that's makes two of us - odd thing is that I reckon I'm hitting the ball better and further now than I did when I was off 6 - in fact I know I am. Just got to get 1.4 off my h/cap and I'll be back to 9 - where I want to be - shot every other hole sounds OK to me.

A friends father was off 8 when he retired aged 66.
He got down to 5 within a year and 3 within two years.
He was still playing single figure into his 90's and died on the golf course.
