I have a free golf lesson voucher to use at a John Letters Golf Academy, part of the Direct Golf group.

Just wondering if any of you guys out there have had lessons with these guys and in particular had the lesson at the Solihull branch, just outside of Birmingham.

If so, what will I be letting myself in for? Will I just be taught the basics in this lesson etc?

Hi Rob, I've not had a proper lesson here, but 12 months ago they had a John Letters Open Day with Sam Torrence doing a few demos. Included in this was a short swing analysis from one of their staff (Simon Lucas I believe) who filmed me hitting a 7 iron with a fancy high speed camera. He showed me the worst "chicken wing" I've ever seen, didn't even realise I did this. He was a friendly chap who seemed to know what he was talking about.

They seem to have the facilities to help with any aspect of your game - there's a driving range, bunkers and chipping area.

I haven't had any further lessons, I'm new to the game and want to sort out the basics myself on the course first (I know this is probably the wrong way to do it).

If you've got a free voucher what have you got to lose- give it a go.
