Where are you Clive?
Ours is on all year, in theory. It's thermostat driven so if it is warm it doesn't come on, if it's cold it does. I don't really get the whole turn it on, turn it off thing. Just leave it on, live a little ?

I have a programmable thermostat and I had just finished resetting all the programmes for summer.
Easy to override but it looks like being overridden a lot this coming week.
We had a Hive thermostat installed this year. Great bit of kit. All managed on our phones, it can be done on the base unit as well. Anyway very easy to alter and tweak whenever required.

It was ok with us earlier today but as the afternoon went on it got colder and windier and colder...brrrr.
We've had aircon on a few evenings this week, and then there was a massive hailstorm this afternoon. Mother Nature is having a wild time with humans this year.

House didn’t get under 21 today so the heating hasn’t kicked in.
This is welcome relief as the our house got to 27 for few nights.
