So happens that Ive been drawn against a lady member in 1st round of our main Club Matchplay Champs this year :mad:

Not that I have anything against 'ladies', but she's off 24, wil play off Forward Tees (massively forward on some holes', and I understand also gets 2 'Courtesy' shots :mad:

'Kin ell, shall I give her 'Mulligan's' too ?????

Makes me mad. :mad:
 
stop whingeing, get out there and play your game. You'll be fine. Off 24 she's not going to be a big threat.

Unless she's a .....what's the term for a female bandit...banditess ;)

She'll be playing Gents SI and Par if she's getting extra strokes

I would think no different to any high h'cap opponent, (except she'll probably stay on the fairway!)
I have played and beaten some low hcap men in my time, but mainly because they lost their cool.
If it's full hcap, she may have shots on par threes, but don't get mad, get even!

On the first tee remind her that 'it still gets dark early at this time of year'..'I think you play from those red markers away up the fairway, DEARIE'...'I know nothing about cooking, before you mention your new cooker, DEARIE'..shake your head and with a look of sympathy say 'you can't rely on Marks trouser sizes, these days, can you?'

Bet you are three up after three but the swelling from your black eye could affect your putting on the back nine!!
 
I am staggered that you have mixed knock out events, other than 4BBB mixed. That is daft. They don't even play the same course.

Nothing against the ladies, but there are ladies comps, and mens comps, and then fun mixed comps.

Its Max H/C allowance, so she gets 14 shots, +2. :mad:

lol @ 19th,......I'll perhaps also comment on her very small neat feet too, 'bet that comes in handy for getting close to the sink eh ?' :D

Just make sure you have a good long waz before teeing off. No nipping behind a tree with a lady in tow. ;)

The extra shots are usually to do with the difference in SSS between the reds and the whites. I'm not quite sure how it all works, but there was something on my club website recently about it.

We have a mixed knockout competition and it is usually the women that contest the final. I think some of that has to do with the fact that you have to finish top 8 in a medal (8 x men and 8 x women) and so for the men at least it tends to be lower handicappers that get through. From there they give bucketloads of shots and some of our women are very capable of just knocking it down, on for three and a couple of putts. Very tough to play against.

I guess the only thin you can do is forget about her gender and focus on playing like youwould against your high handicap mates or high handicappers you've faced in knockouts before. Just make sure you force her to win holes by not making mistakes (OB etc).
