Homer and I played our 2nd round last night against a pair from Maidenhead and I'm sorry to say we lost 3&2. Our Oppo's werer steady off 8 & 11 but while Homer played well, I had an absolute shocker. My driving was good as usual and I hit a few good approaches on the first few holes but went rapidly downhill.

I won't bore you with a hole by hole account but while our partners played well, they were beatable and I feel like I let Homer down big style.

Still, it was one round further than last year.

You and Homer are a team and he wont feel you let him down.

Unlucky chaps and I am sure there is good stuff to come!

Win as a team, lose as a team. I was pretty good apart from a drive OB on the 2nd. Hawkeye drove superbly and didn't miss a fairway. Sadly though it was putting that really crippled our chances. Three putt at 2nd (loss), three putt at 13 after hitting GIR and a number of makeable putts for wins that he couldn't buy.

From a personal point of view I was happy with my short game and putted great apart from leaving the vital one on the 16th on the lip to extend. Some good up and downs when required and a monster putt at 12. Driving still not quite there and long irons and fairway woods not good at all.

The sad thing was for the majority of the front nine and parts of the back, we were only really playing one guy, albeit a capable player but we just didn't dovetail on the night and put him/them under pressure. On the plus side it was a 100% improvement on last year to get this far having gone out at the first hurdle last year
