been playing shocking lately so went for a lesson, pro told me where i was going wrong and had me change my take away ( what chinese food had to do with my golf swing i dont know )anyway point being i know if i play on the course il go back to my old swing that kind of works or do i stop playing and focus on practicing just up the range, new swing feels totally different and wouldnt trust it on the course at the minute :D

Is there a space in your house to practice the takeaway? I'm swinging a wedge in my house all the time. It really helped me to change my swing for the better over the winter.

yeah, got a full length mirror so i can practice the positions i should be in,i only had the lesson last night so il keep practicing and see what happens, do you find it hard not going back to you old habits

My old habits were a flat swing backswing that was too long, and a bit of over the top. As we had such a bad winter I was able to practice in the house for a couple of months before actually getting to play with it so the change was ok...Im still prone to coming over the top if I rush my downswing but I know as soon as I've done it.

Also the way I'm swinging it now is much easier since it's more up and down...gravity and momentum makes it flow a bit better. I just tried to swing the old way there and it feels so restricted.

I would say repetition in the house and the range is good. Allow yourself to hit a few bad shots on the course until you get used to it...

My advice would be to hit the range as often as you can and work on the drills. If you do play accept it won't be pretty and just enjoy the good shots when the new swing works and don't be tempted to go back to the old way. In between games its back to the range and working on it. Sadly there are no short cuts in this game

You need plenty of repetition to bed it in so range time is required but not at the expense of playing. When you play though stick to what you're working on and don't worry about your score, that will come with time. You'll know when you get it right, that might not be often at first but every time is a step in the right direction. You just need to stick with it.

thanks good advice lads,i guess theres no point in paying for lessons if im not going to stick to what im being told,at least my swing went tits up now and not during the summer, gives me plenty of time to get ready
