I've been attempting to play this game, on and off for about 45 years. I've played regularly for a couple of years, and then stop for a good few years, hardly picking a club up. My last really regular golf was nearly 20 years ago, and I got a handicap of 26, although my best round was about 98. Last year I decided to start again, playing at Great Salterns, Portsmouth, Par 69. I had a couple of lessons, and a few rounds and hit a 95 & a 98 as well as a few 100+ rounds, and then went downhill hardly ever playing below 100. This year I've had a couple of rounds at about 98, but getting a bit disillusioned with my lack of progress, although I felt like I was playing better, the scores would not come. I've just had a 2 week break and played Wednesday, and hit 89!!! yesterday I went out, expecting an absolute nightmare and hit 92. My best ever 2 rounds of golf. Perhaps I'll stick at it.

Just thought I'd share my Joy. Got another round tomorrow. Let's see what happens.

This is key- playing the hole, not the scorecard.

What do you EXPECT to score tomorrow?

Unfortunately, it was 102 today, but to be fair, I'm a bit tired. 3 rounds, late shift last night, etc.
Thanks for the comments, but I won't be posting on here anymore. Apparently my user name, which is also used elsewhere, is not welcome on this site. Funny, I do all the correct etiquette on the course etc. Golf eh!!!!

I've been playing a few years and have always hovered around the 94-100 mark ( this nightmare winter was the exception with some cricket scores). I don't play or practice often enough to improve significantly but I do really enjoy golf these days rather than focusing on the negatives.

I was originally told "enjoy it and the lower scores will come" which I'm starting to believe
