then after looking forward to a round this evening it all went boom.
:rant::sbox:
Booking a tee time yesterday, I noticed a 4 ball with someone I know is painfully slow, so I got a slot ahead of them, no bother or so I though, got to the club ready to tee off to find that another slot had become free and the four ball that was behind was now in front.

3hrs 35mins for me and Kraxx to pain 18 holes, we waited on every hole, if not the tee box but the middle of the fairway, on the 16th we stood on the brow of the hill, which is just out of site of the tee box, so I stood there holding my driver up so those behind knew not to tee off.

The four in front must have been playing for a lot of money as they stalked their balls on each hole like the pros, I know one of the four in front plays off 4, but hell the 4 is his HC not notation for how long it should take him to play a round.

Anyway, the first few holes tonight I played well, scoring well within my HC then the waiting just got silly and the golf became hit and miss, roller coaster golf, pushing wedge shots, which is new and don't mention bunkers at the moment if I go in a bunker I just write the hole off, as it's going to be 2 to get out the second of which will be to the other side of the green. So just as the scores were coming down to close to breaking 90, tonight was back into 3 figures, there's always Saturday to start afresh.

3h 35min is not too long for a 4 ball. I agree that they should let you through if they are holding you up.

Perhaps if there is nobody behind you, you could use the time to practice your bunker play?

The two four balls behind us were waiting as well, to the point where on the 16th all 8 played the hole, the 4 that was behind us then walked in behind me and Kraxx down the 18th as they'd had enough, the other four ball played the last two holes, but it was just getting to the point where it was just getting that little bit to dark to safely play.

If the course was busy and they tee'd off 8-10 mins ahead of you, I would say 3:45 for a 4 Ball with a "painfully" slow player isn't slow, did you ask to be let through?

We never got onto the tee box at the same time, they had teed off and were down the fairway, just as we were finishing putting out, we'd get to the tee box and have to wait a couple of mins to tee of ourselves, then when got to our balls, we'd be waiting for the green to clear, same on 17 of the 18 holes, only after we'd spent a little time looking for my ball on one hole did we not have to wait on the following hole.

On the courses I play I'd be more than content with a 3 ½ round (even as a two) but its all relative I guess, what is the expected round duration for a 4-ball for your course?

They should've let you through though

Good to see you getting in some practice for HFH 3hrs 35 minutes so you still have another 1 1/2 hours to get used to.

As has been said golf is 90% mental, many games are ruined by people not able to handle issues going on around them.

Never mind mate at least you had good company.

3hrs 35 mins is not exactly slow mate
Though I realise it could seem so, if held up all the time.
But if you were never close enough to ask to be let through, or were behind a group that you knew weren't going to ask you to play through, then maybe, having realised this, you could have adjusted your own pace slightly.
Better this than getting more and more annoyed.........

3.5 hrs isn't to bad for a round for a four ball and as a three ball during Saturday comps we normally get round in just over 3 hours, it just felt slow I even said as much to Kraxx.

What didn't help was that on the 15th a big hitter took the corner out of the dog leg and almost drove the green we were standing on we both stopped lining up our putts to see where his ball was going to stop, then on the 16th just as Kraxx was about to putt someone behind played his 2nd onto the green front and it rolled off the back but not before going straight over Kraxxs line, his excuse "didn't think I could hit it that far" so what wait for the green to clear.

How can you ask to play thorough when you are 150 meters down the fairway, or in my case deep rough / in the trees?

I asked the question, then he answered! and if your in deep rough or 150 metres down the fairway and don't actually catch them, how would they be an issue?

When I was bosting Norwood apart Tuesday in a fourball, our course record player and his three pals caught us up in no time. We were playing in a medal, they were just having a laugh. After a par three we waited to let them through. They all hit the green and proceeded to muller it on the next par five. We hit our tee shot after them when they rung the bell. One of the lads had hit his ball in the deep and was looking for it I hit my best ever drive on that hole and it was till 150 yards behind Mr Course records. What is that all about. Surely it's just common sense to let people through.

3hrs 35 for a fourball is good going for a 4 ball.

IMO they should have let you go ahead on the 1st tee. Obvious to me that a 2 ball is going to be held up no matter how fast the 4 ball is.

Smacks of inconsideration on their part.
