This weather.
I know it's great playing in shirtsleeves but it's not right.
Had a Twilight round at a nearby course yesterday and the fairways were baked like July/August. 447 yard par 4 in Driver, 7 iron? 535 yard par 5 in driver, 6 iron 40 yard lob wedge?
In April????
Greens were hard, could barely make a pitch mark let alone hold a ball on the green.

Nice as it is - it just ain't right.
We're going to pay for this - mark my words....

can't win can we :)

I cant even get out for a round this weekend, free next weekend and bet its pi$$ing down (sods law)

my mate has played a few rounds over the least week and said all the greens were dodgy and fairways rock hard, we need some rain but hopefully only overnight and not when I am out on the course!!!

I'm playing tomorrow at East Brighton. Fairways are generally pretty fast running, they'll be even more so now with the scorching weather we're having down here at the moment.
I'll be bombing it about 220-230 with a bit of luck

Only down wind, down hill. ;)

Played gatton manor yesterday.

Greens were firm but could still make marks. They were great before 11 but Dryed from the overnight watering pretty quick after that

You can have some of our rain... it's that fine stuff that soaks in over a period of time. Just ideal for a golf course ;)

Been wet here all day really. Haar been in off the sea last couple of days and then this

Still, we had summer last week, it got up to 18°C one day :D

Our place is in pretty good nick at the moment. The ball is running but not miles and miles and the greens are receptive. However, much longer without some decent rain we could start to struggle.

I haven't been there in a while but I suspect my old course has dried out already, glad I don't play there anymore.

I played Hoebridge earlier this week and it's actually in pretty decent nick at the moment. Runs a fair bit, but the greens and fairways haven't died off just yet.

To be fair, the greens were always in good nick, a bit hard but always putted well. They do struggle with the fairways though, the course just drains too well which is great in the winter but not so in the summer.

We've had a sprnkling of rain tonight so hopefully that'll encourage some growth which will help and may take the juice out of the fairways at least first thing until the sun gets up fully tomorrow. I can't see anything wrong with shirtsleeves in April. Didn't we have snow in April a few years back?
