Israel Folau!?

Theists have faith in the existence of (their) god. You,presumably, have faith that gods don't exist!

Had I been a Hindu, I could take my choice of (potentially) over 300 million gods and goddesses.
I'd probably go with Brahma, Shiva, Vishnu and Krishna (the Hindu incarnation). They are clearly superior to the vindictive god of Abraham. But do they exist? No.
Same could be said of all other gods of the ancient world - Greek, Roman, Norse, Egyptian.
In present times we've seen that even the Duke of Edinburgh can be a deity.

Because I was born in a Christian country the local theists have repeatedly tried to convert me to their faith, but they have failed.
But if I could predict the movement of all electrons, quarks an photons within the framework of curved space and time then I'd be able to predict the future. That would be true faith.

The antisemitism directed at kids on the tube yesterday by a person pointing to verses in the Bible probably refers to John 8:44. The Pharisees were in league with the Devil, so in consequence are all Jews.

A week ago it was this in America.
Republicans now promote the superiority of faith over science. You can be wrong about science in states like Ohio and Florida. For example. evolution is wrong because it disagrees with Genesis.
Evolution by natural selection as the reason for life on Earth described by Charles Darwin has now survived 160 years of having everything thrown against it by most Christians. They have never been able to disprove it.

What a load of rambling twaddle!

Btw. I'm happy to accept your athiestic faith, just as I'm happy to accept the faith of many theistic believers. This is purely because, eventually, any 'challenge/argument' is answered by 'well/because I have faith (in my belief)'!

And I've already expressed my abhorrence of Folaul's pov!

I'm happy to accept your athiestic faith
How many more times do I have to explain that atheism is not a faith.
It is a lack of faith, which is all that's required to prop up religion which otherwise would be fantasy.

Put another way, if atheism is a religion, then not collecting stamps is a hobby.
But I might have some faith that when crossing a bridge or taking a ferry the engineers have done a good job and I'll be safe.
As for faith in redacted texts containing supernatural ideas from a dark age before scientific exploration and understanding, I have none.

While I agree that the 'broad' definition of Atheism is the lack of belief in deities, you've stated that Gods don't exist. See the quote below. So YOUR atheism appears to be the 'less broad' definition - belief that deities DON'T exist.

Of course, you could be lying about your atheism, the consequence of which could well be eternal damnation! ;)

What I find rather funny is when those of no religious belief or faith tell me what I as a Christian should believe, even when they don't believe any of it themselves, and then proceed to tell me that what they think I should believe is just rubbish. And with a bit of a heavy heart I shrug.

Down where? Down across the Styx? To reincarnate as a gnat?

Surely no-one took offence about the 'eternal damnation', especially with the smiley! That would put me in the same category as Folaul, whose evangalism/proselytising I believe I've already condemned!

No mate, just you are making sure that your position as Chief Forum Pedant in unassailable 👍

I see IF as just another South Sea Islander who is very evangelical, after those lovely missionaries persuaded them years ago their own beliefs would get them burning in hell.
I feel it's best to let him spout off, he isn't going to change my views on things and only makes him look more stupid than he might already.:)

Is the correct answer.(y)

Faith and belief are great in my opinion .

Its when you try to impose ur faith and beliefs on.people who dont want to know it becomes a problem .

People b better learning respect than beliefs .
As hard as some find it hard to believe no one has THE answer ..
Not sure there even is one .

We tell you what you should believe because we have the separation that allows us to read the Bible objectively and see that it utterly disproves itself over and over again.

Believers have to make countless concessions and excuses to make the Bible even slightly relevant or believable.

SILH gets a lot of stick for his beliefs. He doesn't seem to be trying to hoist them on others but is being challenged on why he should hold them. It seems he isnt allowed to apply his Christian views by some who have their own take on it but rather than ask pertinent questions prefer to rubbish him. He and I may have different views on many things but much of this seems like bullying mind games. Somehow I don't think there would be the same degree of attack if someone had Islamic religious views.
