Is tomorrow the beginning of the end for long putters/anchoring?

OMG, what a shocker !!

So who would of thought they would of thought it would take months of meetings and consultation to come up with that decision.

Interesting point in one of the BBC comments. When would the current pros swap.

Right now and have as much time to get used to it before the rule comes in or keep going, win as much as they can with the anchoring method ?

Aren't broomhandles held by the hands but one hand is braced against the chest?

Would that be outlawed as well as the club itself isn't being anchored?

You can't anchor your hand/forearm/club against your body, so unless you can hover your forearm off your chest then it's illegal.

Seen a nice picture, so will try and find it.....

That explains it fine for me, thanks.

Interesting that they're saying anchoring the putter handle against the forearm is ok, either on it's own or by holding it there with a hand.

but what was Kuchar apparently doing wrong? longer putter handle but gripped normally I thought, and still had to swing it freely

Don't see why that particular part would be an issue, it's being held by the same hand, so extending up the forearm isn't going to give any additional anchor to that being done by the hand.

normally ? It's braced against his forearm. Not normal, but not illegal either.

Question is whether people will swap over to this method or try to revert back to a normal length. I would be surprised if anybody continued with a broom as holding it away from your chest without any method of bracing your arm is bound to defeat the object.

so if I grip down my 35" putter to the bare shaft (as many do) the grip touches my wrist or part of my forearm, I'm still holding it normally like Kuchar or would you also say thats not normal?
