yes, seriously, don't know who you play with in drawn medals but I've never met people who announce at everyhole what they scored while picking out their ball, and is that gross or nett?

Maybe imurg has everyones h/cap on his card and circles where each gets strokes, everyone needs to tell him so he can work out who had the lowest nett then he can announce who plays first. All very quickly no doubt and just as fast as ready golf

But in medal you don't take handicap off until the end of the round - so in medal it's always the lowest gross score that gets honour on the tee (unless you have a different understanding to me of 'medal')

correct! and is what I play to and believe, others think you should take time to establish lowest nett for honour- hence my post with the sarcastic end paragraph, maybe wasn't obviously sarcastic.

It mostly happens at our place and is a habit to be encouraged. If you announce your score after holing out, it gives your marker an immediate chance to agree or disagree while things are still fresh in the mind.

I hear what you are saying but when someone is lining up their birdie putt and all they get is "that was a 6, John? did you hear me? that was a 6! John?"
