Is the UK/Scotland full of lazy ........?

I have just returned from a trip north,a trip that took me to stop at many places from here in Berwick to places in Stirlingshire,Perthshire,Around Oban,onto the Isle of Mull and the beautiful Tobermory,up north of Oban and back east and south through Crieff and Edinburgh and EVERY place I stopped I was served by anything from Slovaks,Poles,Russians,Czech etc......each one of them charming and many of them easy on the eye,even the females but NONE of the folk that served me, bar one Scots Barman in Oban, was British!!!

What did these places do for staff before these people arrived on our shores??!!

Are our own folk too lazy to do Minimum Wage jobs??

Dodger, people have realised they can get everything paid for them on the social in the UK (rent, council tax, clothes, food and even socialising benifit for alcoholics). The foreigners need to earn to send cash back home and they will work like donkeys for minimum wage whereas 'locals' cant be arse working for a living because they then need to pay their way and are too comfortable on benifits.

Exactly. I see it all the time at the hospital. We have loads of overseas nationals applying for healthcare assitants etc (starting pay £13162) who are ahppy for the opportunity and usually work hard and do a good job. On the rare occurence we get a British applicant as far as passing the interview, they are usually teenagers or early 20's who won't lift a finger to get their checks done, can't understand why we'd want to check criminal records and basically couldn't give a toss if they start or not.

Dodger, partly it is that too many of the home grown underqualified layabouts think they are too good for these jobs, partly it's the employers who are sick to the teeth with the home grown underqualified layabouts either not doing the job when they are there or not bothering to turn up, and partly it's that for many of the central europeans these are paying jobs that they can't get at home so they work to keep them.

It's the same everywhere in the UK and republic of Ireland.
I worked in the pharmaceutical industry for a few years and it took me all over these isles and a lot of the pharmacies I visited, had eastern European staff. Lower paid jobs are a magnet and the fact they will take a quid an hour less makes it a no brainer to any money orientated business man.

I don't think it's just the money, all of the Eastern Europeans i've come across take more pride in their work and customer service than many of the Brits in the same type of work. If i were to employ someone, i would rather have someone who takes pride in giving a high level of customer service and who contributes in a positive way to the business.

Did you know parts of the NHS give 6 months full pay then 6 months half pay on the sick. Why work when you could be off golfing with "Stress".

One of the girls I teach has lost 3 jobs because she couldn't be bothered to get out of bed and go to work.
One of them she didn't even get to work in the shop, she didn't turn up first day.

Lives in a dream world.

Kids see their heroes buying plush mansions fancy cars and loads of bling and the only way they can get them is to become a WAG or sell drugs.

When I got into sales 10 years ago my salary was £9,500 ... I was 31

.... I worked with a 23 year old guy who complained he 'wouldn't' be staying unless he got £30k.

When I left school I worked as a trainee in a shop for £45 per week (39hrs!)

Fortunately, I decided to go to college and then uni to make my brain gooder and get a better job.

It's true, Dodger.

As you know I'm now working full time for a pizza chain. It's a 35 hour week. I have a 2nd part time job in a bar to make ends meet, too.

There are about other 20 drivers in our shop and I'm the only Scot driving. The others are Polish, Bulgarian and Indian.....and pretty much without exception they all work almost the same hours as me....but that's THEIR SECOND job. They finish their main job and come straight into the shop and work another 6 or 7 hours per night. So they mostly work 70+ hour weeks in total.

I feel like a lazy git just doing 42 hours a week! Their work ethic is tremendous and they're probably the friendliest and cheeriest group of people I've ever worked with. I just don't understand why we don't get more Scots applying for the job because it's actually quite well paid. Obviously not well enough for the yoof of today!

It's the unsocial hours you have to work J-F, evening has always been 'after school' and their time and they aren't going to change for anyone.
