You can still get them, although I'm not sure who owns the Penfold name now or where the balls come from, they certainly don't come from the old factory in Birmingham.

Here's a rather battered one from the 1960s or 70s for your delectation.
(The putter is a Cash-In which you should also be familiar with!)

I have a 1950s Spalding Cash In in my collection.
As for Penfold, they still have an active website.

I know, the link is in my post that you quoted.

The putter and ball are part of my collection. :)
But this is my favourite Spalding putter, the Model W, in fact it's one of my favourite putters ever!

Both Louisville Golf and Tad Moore make hickory-shafted replicas of early 20th Century Spalding putters.
I actually play with the Tad Moore Chicopee model because the modern technology putters don't work any better for me so I may as well look cool.
.
Chicopee, by the way, is the Massachusetts town where the old Spalding factory was located.

Spalding and MacGregor, along with Wilson, were once the "big three" of American clubmakers.
This was true even in my time as a young player.
Now Spalding and MacGregor are gone from golf and Wilson is a minor player.

Terribly sad what happened to the big three, chasing money by new owners and taking their eye off their core business.

I've got two sets of MacGregor blades (Tourney MTR1 & Colokrom M85, the 1983 remake) plus two sets of Wilson Blades (1984 Staff Tourblade and a wierd, maybe UK made? Dynapower). I don't have any Spaldings however, their UK penetration seems to have been less although they had factories here on two occasions.

The below might be of interest if you've not seen it before:
