I think not.

After another poor season I like Homer went and seen another Pro, I had 2 lessons at £50 a pop for an hour, he got me hitting the ball reasonably well nothing sparkling, any way went to my mate who is the Pro at my place today and within 5 balls he got me hitting my wee draw back again.

There was no videoing of swings ,watching on iPads none of that ,he watches how i was swinging and said try this ,bang there it was best £20 i spent, went for 9 holes right after and hit the ball great ,confidence right up.

I was coming far to far inside on the take away which would throw in a block with no distance, now i've got more width picking a point and trying to swing along that line.

Nothing wrong with a pro getting you hitting it well again be it your club pro or a guy down the local range. As long as he has fixed the fault, you are hitting it better and are confident - happy days. The guy I was using eventually bogged it down to much in technique and the new guy I use has a more natural feel to his lessons. More grip it and rip it and then do this or that to rectify the fault. So much clearer in one lesson

How did they ever manage back in the day without all the technogadgetry.

Good shout for your pal tho, sounds like he knows his stuff.

I had a lesson tonight, hoping to find out why I've been shanking so many. Turns out I was doing similar to you, I was rolling my wrists too much and picking the club up inside the line with my hands.

Spent the whole lesson concentratng on the takeaway with good, shank free results. It's going to take a while to ingrain though as it's always been my biggest fault and is a part of my "natural" swing but hey, the shanks should soon be a distant memory! :D

To be honest he is a very good teacher,i just fancied a change, as he's my mate we stand and chat to much to be honest,i told him that ,no probs i'm there to learn,i hit a loose he told that was crap and get focused again ,thats all i was looking for.

He has a good reputation in the club for teaching and is always on the practise strip giving lessons,he has the right temperment for it which is half the battle.
