Recently noticed this on the shaft of my driver around half way up, is it a cause for concern?

It is slightly raised which leads me to think it's starting to snap but it's not easily noticeable unless I pointed it out to you. I'm not sure if it's the paint that's just cracking or the actual shaft. It's a Serrano Aldila 60-S, just in case it's a common fault?

Either way it must be a direct consequence of my extremely fast swing speed.

Can you not flex the shaft and see if it is the decorative finish or the actual shaft which is cracked, either that or take it up the range and have a lash with it.

I'm not sure how long I've been playing with it like that but it's the first time I've noticed it. I used it a lot a couple of days ago so I don't think just one swing will snap it but it's over use is eventually going to.

Looks a bit dodgy to me - and now that you've noticed, you'll either be ultra-careful driving, or blame every poor shot on the shaft! Neither is good for your Golf, so get it examined, And replaced if necessary.

Bag dropped or been squeezed into the car/locker recently? I'me presuming you haven't taken your frustration out on your bag after a bad shot recently! I've seen that happen before - during a round at Muirfield of all places, by a normally very mild-mannered guy!

that looks bad mate ,it looks like it has been hit by something ,either when you have put the bag down or dropped it on something when it was still in the bag. having seen loads of carbon fishing poles have the same looking type of knock i would say dont use it it could be dangerous to you or anyone in the near vicinity

No expert but that's looks terminal.
If your gonna use it I hope you have insurance. If it snaps and hits nothing it will be the funniest thing you have seen this year. However it it snaps and hits someone. You will be a long time regretting it.

I know what I would be doing with it. Given it now has no monetary value and assuming you like it and still want to use it - I would be sanding down the paint to see if it it is just surface damage. Instant answer by doing this. Foxholer is spot on - you will not swing normally with it until you know. Nothing to loose
