I was hit by my playing partner with a rescue club at full tilt. It got me on the chest and I had a bruise the size of a dinner plate - he gave me a rollikin' for not deflecting his ball back to the fairway

I wonder if the pro was showing how the breaks work on a green, hence if the practice green was flat, it would be no good. That said, at that age, does it matter?

I have been hit on the head by a ball hit with a 6i, no shout of fore, nothing. Right above the temple, on the fly. Made an awesome noise. Massive BOOOOOING. Pretty impressive lump came up too. Hit by a vicar of all people. At least he could have done the last rights if it all went badly.

Have you ever been hit or encountered a near miss from a golf ball?

Nearish, but I have been hit in the face with a 9 iron. Nearly lost the sight in my left eye. However, I wasn't on a golf course at the time.

I'm sure that everyone that walks onto a golf course accepts that there is a chance that an errant ball may strike them, and we all accept that risk.

No one was injured, the kids weren't out of control, they were under supervision by their mothers and an assistant pro so I really can't see what else could be done to protect them short of crash helmets and stab vests.

I recall once teeing off on our 15th which is a blind tee shot over a hill and left to right. Just as we teed off some little bat rastards from the local estate wandered up the fairway. We shouted to warn them, but they just flashed us the vickies and told us to fornicate off. I really wished we beaned one of the little gits.

I hit a bloke on the ankle once, from 200 yards. Over cooked the draw, and it went into the woods left of the green. Some berk storms out, all dressed in camo, shouting why didn't you shout if you knew it was coming my way? WTF, how am I supposed to see him? If camo was visible in woodland, the army wouldn't wear it. Why was he there anyway, it's private property. He didn't get alot of sympathy from me.
