Irish Open 2015

Note to self: Don't select your fantasy golf team under the influence of Glenfiddich and beer.

Took Tommy Fleetwood over Danny Willett, thought Martin Kaymer was an underestimated challenger so got him involved, and have Rory as captain despite him missing the cut the previous two years.

Plenty of golf still to be played! Hope it changes over the next three days :o

Do you think they are a touch "over pampered" with these mittens they're wearing? Blimey, I'm out in the deepest winters playing on frozen greens with nothing but pockets to keep my hands warm... and it's not exactly frozen out there today!?

I agree. It's near the end of May for gods sake. Yes it's not the type of very warm and pleasant conditions they experience just about every week but will it kill them to play in slightly different conditions? Or does every tournament have to be played in 23 degree heat where you can fly the ball into every green? They need to man up.

What's wrong with wearing mittens ?

The hands are massively important to them whilst playing and keeping them warm is vital

Th winds in N Ireland can be bitter

They are still playing aren't they ?

144 yards and they are saying "I don't think there is anyway to hold it on this green". Par 3. Rory missed by a mile.

Links golf in Ireland is something else. Lol.

Just seems that, for a golf course in May, mittens may be a touch OTT. Jackets, jumpers etc I can understand, but mittens?

Hands are very important along with feet - every exercise I went on - the two things to keep warm - feet and hands.

wee bit of hailstones for good measure - Rory laughing as his tee shot on 135 yd par3 7th ends up on the 6th Fairway.

weather looking pretty miserable

I'm guessing you haven't played much seaside golf north of the Watford Gap? :D

We'll have to start a thread soon..."how to make the course easier for pro's in bad weather "

Was only a couple weeks ago discussions on here that Rory was making a mockery of golf courses. He is 8 over at the moment.

RCD is a magnificent course, but very challenging at the best of times and brutal when the weather is bad or the greenskeeper is in a bad mood. Rory is just having one of those days, his swing is not 100% and he has had a few bad breaks, and on a day like that the score is going to balloon at RCD here you might get away with it elsewhere. good to see Rickie do well and a few others like Manassero and Donald.

I see Rickie Fowler has shown Rory how to do it with a round of level par. I remember that round (a 68 I think?) he played at Royal St Georges in 2011 in atrocious conditions, a class performance.
