Great idea, my son was playing on our iPad at age 2, although not very well Bought him a "Nabi" for xmas last year when he was 3. Picked it up easily and it now a little whizz on it. He now has his own android tablet which he plays games and watches videos on and occasionally uses the ipad when its charged (iPad is much simpler to use and safer with the app store etc)
I'd rather have a tech savvy kid who still enjoys jumping on his soaking wet trampoline than a kid who is sheltered from tech. Lets face it, EVERYTHING is going to be "smart" or techy in the next 10 years. FFS they are bringing out smart watches...its a watch!!!!!
I was just surprised - so wondered what those with children of that sort of age thought.
Seemed a little young for me to have an iPad - apart from anything else given the expectations it then sets in the child (technology-wise never mind mummy and daddy spend etc), and the easy next step of getting on internet and all the delights that that presents to the young child.
Are there simpler and cheaper alternatives that a young child could have that do all of what an iPad can do that I child of three would notice or be bothered about. Just seems a bit young for parents to provide a child with a £250 pandora's box.
If parents aren't bothered then fine by me. The kid's not mine. But we are parents of the 1990's and to be honest - I think we have messed things up with our indulgence of our children as they have grown up.
So now I find myself agreeing with Yasmin Alibhai-Brown in todays i newspaper - What's wrong with our young people? I read the piece and recognised just too much about my 18 and 21 yr olds, and how they have been over the last 8 yrs or so, than I would have wished.
