I have a pad that is 3 years old, and now it doesn't play YouTube videos with out the download time. The network speed is fine, looks like all the unnecessary updates are killing it ...
lesson here is I won't buy another as I am forced to invest in a new one after a finite period of time making the investment expensive
any advice on getting the damn thing to do what it used to do would be appreciated

Do a hard back up to iTunes, then delete the iPad completely and restore it from the backup. Just had to do my 5 year old iPad 2 and it's fine again now!

Ah I don't use iTunes... gave up on that years ago.

Just getting into it here and finding it pretty good.

Was totally non-apple two years ago but been convinced by some great products and bad experiences elsewhere.

I had to fix an old iPhone that had a similar issue, itunes does a reset then redownload from icloud.

Need to read up on it to do the reset correctly but it works. iPad will come out of it feeling brand new!

Lets try to keep this thread away from Apple vs X as that can go on for ages. I've said all I should say on the matter :D

I think you need to press a certain button combination while plugged into itunes and it does a reset of the device.

I can try and dig the advice out unless someone beats me to it.

I don't have a macbook or other Apple computer, I use iTunes for windows and icloud for windows and both work excellently.

I don't have a personal lap top either, keep my work one just work orientated. My iCloud is full up, not sure what with. However I do have a network hard drive.... just needs a boot up the jaxi !!

Got 7 gb left, the disk station is pretending it doesn't know me but is talking to the sonos happily.... tonight is not the night to muck about ... I'll save that for my day off ☹️️ Or I will just forget it

What size ipad2 do you have and what IOs are you using ?
I'm still on ios 7 because I'm worried that doing this will force and IOS 9 system on me, and a 16Gb ipad can't deal with that methinks ?
