Hi,

I have recently decided to go ahead with some lessons during the winter months to try and improve and swing. My question is do you think although it may not be great weather it is best to have a lesson at a range or indoor where it may be a bit more suited to concentrating?

Hi Hodgie,
I think if its just your swing your wanting to practice it doesent really matter whether it is on a range or out on the course (i practice my swing in the shower room at work on nights in front of the massive mirrors ;) Shhhhhhhh) But if its ball striking your after sorting out, i dont think there is any substitute for hitting off grass and not mats

It depends. My club pro gives lessons outside all year on the practice ground so at least you are hitting off grass, but the teacher I use operates from a range so its mats all the way. The adavantage of the range is that it has a heated bay!

I use the practice ground but the only problem is finding the balls after as they tend to plug and they do let the grass get a bit long. It sort of takes the enjoyment of a good session away when you are wandering for ages (especially if there are more than one of you out there) looking for your own balls
