If i bought a good quality forged wedge for example and took it to a club builder/fitter, how much could he bend it to increase the loft ? :D

Why would you want to do that. Why not go and get a wedge with the required loft. If you had a 52 and wanted more loft why not just buy the 54 or alternatively open the face up when you play a shot

Not infinitely.....two degrees maybe.....it might be possible to do more, but pro club fitter/repairers are concerned about breaking clubs or ruining the set.....???

Thanks RGDave for actually answering the question.

There is a method in my madness ( i hope )

I was hoping to squeeze 3 or 5 degrees extra loft from a club, i know a good club builder, will ring him tomorrow, see what he says; just hoping to get some feedback first from the forum.

I think I can guess the answer......

are we talking wedges? I had trouble persuading mine to de-loft a cast Callaway by ONE degree!!!

Cast clubs do have a habbit of snapping though with anything more than 1 or 2 degrees alteration; was hoping a forged club would have more flex and tolerance.

A forged club can generally be altered by up to 4 degrees but as always, ask the manufacturer

I tried to get my 53* forged Mizuno wedge de-lofted by 2 degrees with no success. The pro said it was too risky and not worth it so gave me a free 15 minute short game lesson, RESULT!

Blimey.. you're swing must be spot on if 1 degree is worth messing with!

I don't even know the lofts of any of my clubs but I know I can give 'em a good knock :)

I might be in the market for a 60° wedge soon for those shorter shots :)

:) no, certainly not, sadly.

I hit hundreds of balls with a pair of old Callaway wedges prior to getting two spin milled. I discovered the average for the Callaway 52 was about 95-97 yards. I wanted to de-loft it to try and get a magic "100".....there are lots of holes at mine where I tee off to leave as close as possible to 100 yards. On 100 up to 105 I don't want to play a full PW......

As it happens they did de-loft it and add 1/2 inch and a new grip.....worked OK for a while, averaged about 100... :)
