Hi guys im gona head up to the range tonight after not being able to play the course today due to the frost.

I do need to work on parts of my swing, but have you guys got an drills that you normally do at the range that help any part of your game?

cheers

the best drill i have is making sure i get the bay with the heater, can get bloody cold there this time of year, and if i have the one with the heater i can take additional layers off. :D

on a serious side, what part of your game are you planning on working on. If its generally everything i tend to play a virtual 9 holes going through the front nine of my course. doesnt get repetitive always keep my pre shot routine in play.

tonight ill props be working on hitting my driver and new 3 wood. will mainly be looking at swnging properly with the changes in my swing but would like some drills to keep me there longer and get a bit more benefit from it.

How can anyone suggest drills without knowing what your swing looks like or what your faults are? I get you want to improve, but this is a bit of a blind way, surely?

i never asked anyone to suggest drills for my swing, i asked for drills in general that people do at the range that they see as a benefit for their game.

i only said that i needed to do my swing cos i know what im doing but wanted other stuff to do at the range to make it more worth while being there and could maybe be there for a few hours instead of just 45 mins.

I just tend to make sure I've got the basics (grip stance alignment and posture) correct and then look to make sure my takeaway is good. Other than that a lot of my problems are tempo based so I tend to do a lot of work with the tour tempo cd I have to make sure everything is smooth (not too many moving parts) and in synch

Oh! Sorry! Misunderstood. :)

Practice as you play. I like to work on mechanics for a while then play the course by hitting whatever club I might need. It's great for your routine and mental game.

Here's a few drills that I like to run through at the range:

Turn up talking loudly on my mobile phone.
Tut loudly and say FFS under my breath (but loud enough for everyone to hear) because there's no baskets left.
Snatch an empty basket from one of the stalls whilst giving the occupant my best hard man glare.
Install myself in the teaching stall and start blatting balls with my driver (no warmup required).
Thrash through my basket with my swearing getting louder and louder as I go (a basket of 50 typically takes me around 8 mins; I like to try to hit each ball before the previous one has landed).
Offer swing advice to anyone within 3 stalls of me.
March out avoiding eye contact with everyone and leaving my basket on the floor amongst my beer cans and spit.

Actually none of that was me, but thats all things I've seen at my local range.

I normally warm up thoroughly before simply running through my bag from 10i up and back again. I go through my entire shot routine for every ball. No more than 3 or 4 shots per club. I work on simple good form; all full shots, one straight, one fade, one draw; if I cock a shot up I just move on. I stop, put my club down and write down a note about ball flight between every shot; this forces me to rebuild my stance for every shot (I don't tend to actually use my stats for any practical purpose). A basket of 50 normally takes me about an hour. For some reason I always perform better when its busy and I feel like someone is watching me. If I am feeling like I'm getting nowhere and my mind is not in it, I give my balls away and leave.

I went to the range tonight and about halfway through my basket 2 women turned up and went in the next 2 bays behind me.

Yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap.

I felt like doing the baseball drill a bit too close
