Im currently playing a set of Ping G25 irons but have recently lost confidence in them. Ive been struggling with the offset and found ive been pulling them a lot. About 6 months ago i hit a Callaway X Hot Pro iron at my club with the Project X flighted shafts and really liked them. Slightly Smaller top line and face and a lot less offset though there is still some there. Hit them with a 5.5 shaft but as the pings were fairly new left it at that. Fast forward to last week while looking though various web sites i noticed a set of X Hot Pros for sale with the project X 5.0 flighted shafts and unlike my normal lets think about this attitude pressed the button to buy. Managed to get out last night with them and absolutely loved them. Didnt really know what to expect but i was walking around on my own with a big smile on my face as they felt so comfortable and the confidence was back. The course was quiet so managed to put a few balls down but the dispersion was far better and distances were within a few yards of each other. Looks like the Pings are going. So anyone else have an impulse buy that just worked for them.

My Odyssey Metal X6 putter was a pure impulse buy, just saw it, loved the look of it, it was reduced, it was centre shafted and it was bought, I wouldnt be without it now, an absolute dream to put with.

When the Odyssey 2 ball putter first came out I saw someone else playing with one. I just liked the look of it and the way it sat behind the ball when he putted, and he seemed to hole loads of putts. Ordered one through my pro without even trying one and within 2 weeks of it arriving I had my first under par round. Nine years later and it is still in my bag.

I took out a demo Hot X2 6 iron on a whim a few weeks ago, loved it and bought a set straight of the rack in our pro shop and love them too

Was mooching around the golf shop one afternoon after work and picked up a weird looking putter (Odyssey Teron) which just felt so good. Bought it, went on golf society trip following day to Haydock Park. Shot 72 for a 66 and won comp (26 putts). At the time this was my best ever round on an away course.

PS It didn't last and things like this really ARE all in the head!!!

To be honest most of my golf stuff are impulse buys. I get bored easily and I blame the internet, as they make it so easy to buy something after you've had a couple of beers.;)

I bought a secondhand TM R1 driver in almost perfect condition in the Jan sales for £100 (£359 new at the time) on impulse, without even trying it out, and it has greatly improved my driving. :)

Bought a second hand 60 degree Wilson lob wedge for £15 whilst visiting the range. Love it and has saved me a few shots over the years.

Not an impulse buy but I found a TM Lethal ball the other week and as soon as it was in my hand I thought it felt lovely and it has continued to be lovely since. Not sure what I like about it but it does stand out from the other balls I have been using (Pro V, Bridgestone B330 RX). I am going to try and buy some but its not even TMs current premium ball is it?

A 33" Ping Redwood Piper putter.
Saw it, hit the buy-it-now button and I'm sinking long putts for fun.
I think I'm going to struggle to better it.

Pretty much everything in my bag is an impulse-buy, that I've seen on eBay and just dived in: PING G20 irons, Adams Speedline fairway woods, PING Tour-W wedges, Odyssey Tank putter...

My driver, hybrid and bag are just things that I've tried, looked at reviews and shopped around for.

Nope, TM have just brought out another premium ball called the Tour Preferred I think. They've also brought out one called Project (a) which is aimed at amateurs, usual spiel about softer feel and longer distance, as I think it is the law that every new golf ball is described in that way now. I got 3 of these project a free from a golf mag but haven't tested them yet.

As for the Lethals then I play these in the summer and they are a cracking value ball if you can get them at the right price. You see them in sales now and then, and I've picked up a dozen for around 22 notes a couple of times. I think TM make great balls and as they bring out new ones so often you can usually get premium range balls for just over 20 notes when the next generation comes out. Which is very often.
