I've been experimenting with different ball markings. Quite like a red circle round the number. Think that might replace the current black dot to the top right of the number.

I have said this before but have been reminded of something last year.

I noted one of my playing companions had no markings on his ball and was playing the same type of ball as me. I explained to him why he should have marking on the balls and showed him how I marked my golf balls. Next time I played with him he had marked up his balls with exactly the same markings as me!!

A long time ago, I posted about a guy I played with one day. He announced on the tee "Srixon 4 with 2 black dots above the number". A few holes later when his ball headed for trouble - "provisional, Srixon with 2 black dots above the number". "What number?" I asked. Reply - 4.

On a golf tour once, I pushed a ball into the undergrowth. Had a very distinct marking. Playing partner got there first & said "That's it, can't mistake that marking". I took his word, hacked it out, then knocked it to a foot. Par 5, birdie time. :) As I walked onto the green to mark it, I looked closer, & picked it up. The playing partner immediately challenged me, reminding me there were no gimmes. I then pointed out that, having looked more closely, I realised that it was the ball I lost in the same bush the day before... :(

I have a mate who hits quite a few provisionals, he is always prepared one ball in the bag marked P1 and another marked P2.

been there done that in a medal lol

One black dot has to be the most common marking to the point that it's pointless even doing it.

I used to do a purple OC inside two of the grooves, but last year I modified that to just the O as a purple O is unique enough that I didn't think I needed to bother with the C as well.
