I'm not very long....

Once again people forget to impliment the word 'AVERAGE'

My average is about 220-230 but once maybe twice a round I can flush one between 265-300 but thats only one hit out of 13 drives.

There is no way WE (club golfers) can be accurate with averages so why dont we just leave it alone and avoid stupid debates by billy big cocks.

Whilst I agree that there are many people who over estimate how far they hit the ball (I was one until I got a sky caddie). I don't get why everybody who claims a long drive is dismissed on here as some sort of deluded fantasist.
I played in with a guy on here whose name I forget in a forum meet at mid Yorkshire who hit a 3 wood through the green on a 280yd hole. Think we measured it at 296yds, no helping wind either and no fluke as hit many other big shots that day. Think he was off 10 so big hitting amateurs do exist.

Smigger I am sure there are players who can tonk it but to get the AVERAGE you need to calculate ALL his drives and then divide the total distance by that number and am sure if he is off 10 there wil be a couple of hooks, slices or pop ups which will slash his distance.

There are many reasons someone can be off 10.

There is nothing to stop guys with big headed drivers that only go to the range with a driver averaging tour distances but not getting the ball in the hole well. I fall into that category of someone who hits pga tour distance but on recent form finds it hard to get round in under 90.

I plan to play a little more golf this year to hopefully improve my scores a bit

Yes I agree with you about the average Madandra. Just don't think you can dismiss out of hand anybody who claims to regularly top 300yds, which I see done regularly on here.

I played a match against an 8HC lad who'd grown up playing with Lee Westwood and Mark Foster at Worksop. I didn't measure any of his shots but I've never seen the ball hit so far, didn't miss many fairways either. I'd be confident his average was 280+.

Still beat him 4&3 though

I am finding the layout of this forum less than
"Customer friendly!"

Only just noticed the dude above was replying to someone in particular

AuburnWarrior you hit your driver far enough and straight enough so I wouldn't worry. It's those wedge shots that sail over the green that you need to worry about...

...whilst I'll go work on my putting/irons/chipping and bunker play :o :o :o

As James says, you hit the ball plenty far enough. Your driving display at Sundridge Park last year was awesome. Cat. 1 stuff. You left the rest of us for dead.
But your approach play could do with some work.... ;) ;) ;)
