Took my rather impulsive 17 degree rapture hybrid out for a hit today. Bought it on Ebay yesterday and arrived today and is mint apart from a tatty headcover.

I love it. Tee shot on the 6th and thought "wow - bright green" but it looks to my eye so easy to hit. Smacked it 185 yards with a touch of draw - good start. Off the deck on the 8th and through the back of the green then off the tee on the 9th and 190 yards. Par 5 10th and 2 mighty blows with it had me on the green

I guess it goes about the same as my (rare) Sunday best 5 (or even 3) wood and can't recall ever hitting more than about 2 consecutive good ones with the 5 wood before a fat, top, thin or heel strike comes back into play.

The curious me wonders is it just because to my eye it looks like it can't miss? Not sure what a 17 degree hybrid should replace/compliment in the bad under normal circumstances?

Any thoughts? Unsure of the balance in my bag now and that probably means parting with cash!!

I've taken out all my fairway woods & gone driver, 17* hybrid. 20* hybrid all ping G20/i15/120. it seems to work. Well for 1 round anyway ;)

I find the 17* hybrid more versatile. Better off the deck and more reliable off the tee that any 3/5 wood I've had before

I'm thinking down the line this may be the way I go so long as this isn't a honeymoon period with the Rapture!

Its amazing what a little confidence does, when hitting those kind of shots.

I agree that is massive and the head looks right to me - somewhere between a hybrid and fairway wood in size.
