I recently got hold of a Callaway Steelhead 5 wood with a steel shaft to fill a gap between my 3 wood and hybrid.

Well. on today's form it might be taking over every job at the top of the bag.
Out 17th, a slightly downhill par 5 of 498 yards, was despatched in 4 shots - 2 of which were the 5w off the tee, another to just short of the green, and a chip'n'a putt to finish off!!
475 yards covered by 2 x 5 woods right out of the screws!

Gonna look out for a strong 3 wood in the same spec now.

Love It!!

Don't you find that with new clubs, though?

I recall buying a TM hybrid a few years ago, and for the first six months I had it I could do no wrong. I didn't just love it - I proposed to it, walked it down the aisle and we set up home together.

The divorce was a messy affair............

The thing is it feels like an Old Friend
I bought one when they came out in '98 and hit it a country mile back then.
Can't think for the Life of me what possessed me to get shot of it...
Probably fell for a load of hype......

I have a Callaway steelhead 4+ and its been the best club in the bag for about 12 years- people say I should dump the driver and use that only- Fantastic and very underrated club

Remember that there were a few releases of the Steelhead - at least 3. There's an original 2-wood in poor-ish condition on Ebay.

If you don't succeed in that quest, try the Hawkeye 3+. Titanium, but another fabulous club.

Good man! The 5W in my bag is a slight older club (2006?) which is a belter and won't be coming out anytime soon. Off the fairway it's a rocket.

I don't think it's underrated, it seems to always come up when someone does a post about classics.

So you managed to put a couple of decent shots together, with the same club

Woop-te-doo

I want to see your reaction when you nobble one 20 yards :) :)

It'll be on the bay within a month :)
