I use them and they do make the game slightly easier, but you still have to have some talent and be able to repeat your swing to some degree.
I went for a long time without having lessons or practicing and expected to play off my then handicap of 12 around a reasonably difficult course with a set of TM RAC LT's. I couldn't so I bought a set of Ping G10's and expected them to sort everything out, but on their own they didn't.
I had some lesson's and found that I had picked up some bad habits that a new set of clubs couldn't fix. So with the lessons and some practice I'm now hitting the ball well again and enjoying golf. I'm off 13 at the moment, but I hope to be able to take a couple of shots off that this year.
