The Happy Gilmore approach...

Recently a vid of Padraig was posted showing him running up to the ball with his driver and tonking it miles.

Well I tried it and - Bugger me!! It works......

I've never hit the ball so far.

Or so far left and right!!!

Did get a couple of scorchers straight. Flew the 250 yard range with range balls!! But not very consistent. Getting the run up right was hard but after a dozen goes I was making good contact.
Not going to try it on the course though - could go anywhere.

Oh! And I didn't put my back out!! Try it. The looks you get from the others on the range are worth it!!

Me and all my mates used to do this all the time when we were younger, alot of the times the balls were never seen again as they went so far left and right that no one could be bothered gioing to fetch them

I have never found it to be difficult. Mainly do it with a 6i, but can do a driver too. Have been known to do it on the course, but not in a medal.

I thought most ranges prohibited a Happy Gilmore, I know I'd only hurt myself if I tried.

The range I use is upstairs. Not a good place to try, as there is a bit of a drop (15ft) just past the mat.

Best left to the practice ground.
