Hi all,

First post so don't know whether I should post here or not. But I heard that for people that struggle with a slice or a pull shouldn't use a Pro V1 or x, because it designed to spin and any side spin is exaggerated because of the design.

Logical?

Yes its very true, the Pro V1 is a high spin ball so will exagerate the side spin from a swing, so if you hit a slice with say a Pro V1 and a 2 piece ball, the Pro V1 will slice far more. Obviously it has better feel and control around the greens and hence why it is suited to better players

But,assuming you're making a consistent strike, off the driver you're only talking 400-500 rpm - the difference between 2500 and 3000 so not huge numbers. Yes it is going to slice more but not as much as you might think.

Page down to find the chart - can't seem to do it any other way (Ludite!!)

I was playing at Lewes one morning.
Had to change my ball after finishing a hole because it was badly scuffed up.
Pulled out a ProV1 that I had in the bag, first time I had played with one.
Hit the most god awful slice off the next tee and lost it.
I've never played with ProV1's since
:o :o :o :o :o

All I know is this, my bad shots are far less badderer with the ProV1x than with lets say a soft feel, AD333, NXT tour etc.

And stood on the tee about to hit a 3 quid ball makes you concentrate a lot more on stance, alignment etc :)

I always use a harder ball if its windy. Which recently has been the Prov1 X, but would not use this at other times cos i just don't have the clubhead speed to get the best out of it, easily lose 10-15 yards distance wise.

There is some weird stuff in that chart.

The Top Flite Gamer is the third highest spinning ball? Followed by the Titleist DT series?

Why would Pro's not use DT or Top Flights if they spin more than say, a CallawayTour i?

But the 2500-3000 is backspin.

On this Flightscope example, it only takes 200-300 rpm to move the ball 8 yards or so sideways.

P, Pro-v1x is 90 compression and Pro-v is 100, maybe showing my ignorance here but i've been using Pro-v1x as i don't generate a huge clubhead speed either but went to a lower compression ball thinking i would get more out of it. Any input gents? I know there's a lot of knowledgable people out there. :D
