Well if you believe the launch/spin etc monitors

With my own mizuno mp600 I get a launch angle of around 15 degrees, 1500-2000 rpm, around 5 degrees sidespin and when swinging at my usual speed (101-103mph, I could manage faster but just didnt feel it was reliable) get around 154 mph ball speed. carry is healthy.
When I tried a 9 degree Ping V2 Rapture with a heavier stiff diamana shaft I was getting 12 degrees launch and losing distance big time. still fairly straight though.
A Ping g15 with 9 deg loft and stiff shaft, I was getting 14-16 degrees launch 3-5 degrees sidespin and 2500 rpm. good carry and reasonably happy with it.
With a 9 degree Titleist D2 stiff shaft I was getting 1000 rpm and generally unimpressive stats so it was shelved.
I tried a 10.5 with same setup shaft, launch angle 15+ degrees, slightly more variance on side spin but certainly went as far as the g15 though it was going higher with the higher rpm backspin.
Finally I tried a g10 with V2 stiff shaft. Seemed to have the best averages out of all areas though not the strongest in any of them.
Was I wrong to take it over the other performers?
I had a hefty voucher burning a hole in my pocket so took it with the knowledge that I could return it in the next 14 days. Ill be heading to the range tomorrow if the course is closed.

Anyway, I learned that you can stand and smack balls for half an hour on these things and the numbers will do your head in!

Higher launch lower spin.
I could stay on a launch monitor all day and be quite happy as there's no way I can run down the other end to see where balls land! :)

I find the whole thing fascinating.
Sounds to me like you hit them all well (other than the Titleist) and could choose almost any.
I got a bit of a telling off from my pro yesterday when he saw me playing with a non C-F driver.
All I can say is, I've been on enough Launch Monitors to know that as long as I have plenty of loft and a nice soft/reg shaft, I'm going to be able to hit the thing.
I can't see you going wrong with the Ping.

Aw C'mon Brendy, it's just a way of saying you had vouchers/money burning a hole in your pocket and the wee demon on your shoulder kept saying " just try that one"

So after all the exhausive testing today, there can be no excuses next year. Faiways Hit stats had better go up next season or else......

You'll have to do it all again :D

Seems like a good way to spend a wet saturday though. :D

The shaft is the biggest factor there.

The Ping stock shafts are pretty soft and spinny, and the G10 UST V2 is the high launch, I think.

The Titleist is a lower spin head, but not that much. The shaft is probably the main factor. Voodoo?

Absolutely DCB, I had a voucher from last week (leaving pressie from last job) and as the course was well and truely shut and boredom had set in. I decided to give Nevada's computerised suite a gom I had never been into any setup like this before so thought I had to try it out.
What I learned today Ian (CC07) was that the first few balls of each club were telling, if you stood too long you got enveloped by figures rather than what felt nice and had the best shape/distance. I must have hit 20+ with the rapture V2 and just couldnt make it go as well as the rest.

I had the g10 a week and took it back today and went for a new g15 9 deg stiff. Went out this morning and was hitting it soo much better and longer as the launch monitor said I would. This one is a keeper because it was having the desired effect on my playing partners, they were cursing it rather than me cursing it. :D

Don't I know it! I'm back to a no nonsense weighty gadgety free zone so I've got no excuses. I have to say it felt and flew better than the mp600. The g15 isn't ugly though I think the mizuno is a damn fine looking club.
