I have a dilemma

I find the insular content re your 'friends' unusual.

I arrived in Aberdeen and indeed found the locals less than easy to get to know but can you blame them with the incomers pushing up the prices of everything and only too keen to show off their oil wealth.

I noticed after a while I was accepted but by then I had put myself about, golf club(s) - so cheap up here you can join more than one - church, work mates (many in the oil industry wanting a wee hand into my circles) and some other organisations(I feed the drifters so every begger on Union Street treats me as their pal!)

All in all I have the most super life style, not just in cash terms, but in the knowledge of friendship, golf, clean fresh air and water, super beaches 20* only one hour from skiing (last weekend!!) and provided we do not tell the English, we can keep it this way!

Lastly and I don't think you can put a price on this, in this day and age - our local rag has a police advice section urging us to remember to lock our cars and sheds "whilst we realise that crime does not occur in this area you can never be too careful"

As an incomer I can only say "Aberdeen is magic!"

There's an old proverb "Never go back", better stay put or go somewhere new altogether rather than try to resuscitate a previous life.

I'd join a golf course and MAKE FRIENDS, and do things together where you can both meet people. I'd rather take the security of finance and family over moving to a dump like Leeds :)

Admittedly being in Aberdeen means you might have to meet some Scottish people but we can't have everything we want..... ;)

Have you ever been on holiday to somewhere and had such a great time that you went back the next year?

The second visit wasnt as good as the first was it.

Another consideration is what job would you do? Not much oil work in leeds unless you work away or change occupation completly.

If you are going to move, now is the time before the kids start school, so you either move now, or wait until the kids have finished school (dont forget free University places up north)

All things considered, id stay and simply play more Golf
