I entered something similar a couple of years back with my brother, i believe it was American Golf's!

Got through the first round ok, drawn away to a club we didnt know but the 2 lads we played had a mare, 2nd round we were drawn away again to 2 bandits.

They both said they played off 16 and showed us their h/c certs, after 8 holes we were 6 down, 1 of them was gross par  and the other was gross 2 over.

This looks quite similar to that, might have to give our kid a shout.

A friend and I suffered the same fate. We usually play very well together, and were drawn away to a couple of guys from Gillingham GC. I was off 14 at the time and my mate was off 9. The two guys we were playing were off the same handicaps so we thought it was going to be a really good game.
How wrong were we????
The 9 handicapper only came in on one hole and that was the one hole that the 14 handicapper cocked up off the tee. This guy was blitzing the ball and made a mockery of his handicap. We were trounced, and when I questioned the guys handicap at the end of the round, he admitted that his Society handicap was 9. When I asked him why his official handicap wasn't that low, he said "well I wouldn't win anything would I?"

Its a very good point about the handicaps. Perhaps they need to have an entry qualification that people have played in at least 5 handicap qualifiers in 2008.

I guess it will be a little late to put that in place.

The other option Colin is to find a total and utter bandit to partner you
;)

Played in the Telegraph/Wilson matchplay a few years back and got to play some nice courses as a result.
The moment that comes to my mind is when we played a pair at our place. The 21 handicapper played out par 5 (498 yards) 13th and was through the back of the green in 2.

With a driver and wedge!!

No kidding he hit the drive like a pro - must have gone 320/330 down the middle. Took his wedge out and plonked it 20 yards through. if only he had a short game he'd have been brilliant!!!

I spoke to my brother last night about it, we're not going to bother due to the very very very high chance that a pair of bandits will rape us before we get anywhere near past the qualifiers!
