howdidido match paly comp

Hi

I played in it last year. Won my first two and then got KO by someone at my own club!!

Met two lovely guys from other clubs, it was good fun.

Edgey

Trouble is that they play the matches regionally and I live very close to LYDD GOLF CLUB!!

Would you risk it???

Chris

Where do you play at Edgey?

I'm at Gaudet Luce in Droitwich.

Hi

I was one of the very early members of Gaudet Luce (they were still having stone picking partys at the time) when the whole course was GUR lol. In all fairness Gaudet is still one of my favourites and one of only two courses i have shot under par gross. Played their last year and was VERY impressed with the course.

I am a member at Kings Norton GC now.

Only been a member for 3 years so dont remember the good old days of when it opened as a 9-holer.

Kings Norton is going up in the world though, you'll be playing at Blackwell next :D

Sorry if this is off topic.

Funnily enough, Boars Head isn't that bad to be honest. It's like a bloody quagmire at the moment but there are a couple of really decent holes on there, you have to think your way around. The weakest hole I guess is the 9th/18th. Fairly straightforward par 4 which will only leave you a flick with a sand iron during the summer months. Water hazard crosses it at about 150 out which shouldn't really come into play unless you clatter into one of the big Oak trees on the left hand side.
I'm quite enjoying going round it actually.
OK it's not Wentworth but it'll do for £30.00 a year (including a county card!)
;)

Perhaps when the weather is better an invite to try it might wing it's way!

You'd be more than welcome Chris.
There's a medal on tomorrow and I'm tempted to go and play in it but as I say, it was like a quagmire on Sunday and the forecast for tomorrow is more rain.
The greens are holding up "ok" but anywhere off the fairway and it's a plugged ball, and around the greens it's just mud. Bloody awful trying to chip or putt off of it.
By the way, I shot 31 points on Sunday and came 2nd last!!

when is the latest you can enter this how did i do matchplay comp and do you get drawn with people from your own region?

Taken from the HDID website....

"The tournament complies with all R&A regulations. After the closing date of 14th May 2011, competitors will receive a copy of the draw, stating whether they are playing home or away. The knockout stages will take place between June and September on a regional basis to minimise travelling. Competitors need only win four matches to qualify for the UK Finals which will be held at selected Macdonald venues across the UK in October before leading singles players and better ball teams head for the Grand Finals in Portugal".

This is quite nice too....

"If courtesy of the course is not granted for the away player/s the green fees will be charged at the member's guest rate and the cost shared between the home and away players".

You'd be more than welcome Chris.

I play Ashford Golf Club - have you played there?

It's tree lined and a course that I never tire of. The only downside is the motorway noise from the M20. When I joined they said you don't hear the noise when you play well ... 12 years later ... I still hear it, but I do like the place!

Same invite extended to you!

No, not played there Chris. Have played Canterbury GC which was quite nice although a bit "open" in places.
I'd love to come over for a game sometime when the weather improves.
Thank you
