How to play a hole with a carry too far

thanks, yup, used driver, 3w, 5w & 22 hybrid at various times.
I need a plan as I have a biggish pairs comp there in 2 weeks and I don't know if they'll move the tee forward by then and I have a playing partner to consider

Could your partner make it? Is it alternating shots? If he can make it then perhaps you should take the odds and let him on the evens, if he can't then you're worrying over nothing because he'd be in the exact same boat as you! If its 4 ball then chances are you wont be the only one who doesn't make the carry and its down to the big hitters to make the score.

By the sounds of it there wont be many low ones on that hole anyway. Best to try not to think about it until the 18th, you could have the match won by then if you play well enough. Best of luck!

I know the one, its at Anahita gc (stunning course) its only about 2km from le touessrok

That's the one! I've just clocked your location and for that reason alone I think I can safely speak on behalf of the forum when I say boo hoo to you that you can't make the carry. Are your diamond shoes too tight? And are there too many 50's in your wallet? :)

I'm just jealous!

Wow what a great place to play your golf. Obviously the exception being this hole.

I think you have to give it a go knowing your trusting to luck if you make it or not.

The only other suggestion is maybe go see the pro and see if he can get you any more distance out of your driver. Improved swing, swing speed, maybe a better fitted driver might give you the extra yards you need.

Otherwise it seems you have to just accept it, which I don't think I could.

Just went on their site and had a look at the 18th tee, although the pic is probably not taken from the whites, If you cant reach it just a nice pitch to a forward tee and hit your 2nd shot from there ! ;)
You can flick through to the 18th tee here.

And following that link doesn't show the 18th at Camberley (well not very often) which is a Par 4 and has plenty of room left of the heather mound to play a normal shot without doing a Stinger and smashing it onto the green! I would have expected the photos and holes to be synced, but that's not the case.

Just had a look at that course cos i was thinking it would be good to give this hole a try one day. Don't think I'll ever have a chance to play 1 round on a course like that, if i do i'd be over the moon. You lucky man!

lol, yeah its tough to find a course that doesn't over-chill the ice tea at the halfway house :D

seriously I'm definitely one of the worker bees and if it wasn't for the discounts that ex-pats get on these courses I wouldn't play more than once or twice a year

If it makes you fell better its raining at the moment so I may have to play Belle Mare gc in the rain tomorrow (still be wearing shorts though)

Hmm slightly better but if we played in shorts in the Uk at the moment the olds legs would seize up after a few holes in the icey breeze. And its a hot bovril at the half way house to thaw out a bit.

For me I would 'go for it' but think smooth swing not just hammer it. If you can get a few over it will give you confidence when it is needed in the comps.

disclaimer : balls can go into the swamp as well as over it this action may cost you your confidence, golf balls and sanity!!
