How to choose a club

thanks for the posts. in considering joining blyth, Its about 15 mins drive but a nice enough course. dont konow if anyone has been there but here is the link

I was a member of Blyth club for about 15 years in the 1960s 70s. We moved from the old easy 12 hole course to the new one which is/was a very nice track. Good clubhouse. Occasional yob stealing balls.
I hope you enjoy it as I did.

A few points for me was, Location (within 15min dr), costs(set myself a budjet) and the overall set up of the place ie; practice ground, good friendly bar etc.

My club i'm at deffo ticked all of those boxes and since march i've met and played with many of good fella's young and old and its the best thing i've done this year (except my hole in one yesterday ).

Good luck with your hunt for a new home :D

I am looking at joining my first club in the next few weeks too. Got loads in Sheffield that I could join however what I am doing is going to play a few and find out which course I like, as well as which has a good practise ground and which seems the most friendly. I moved to Sheffield to come to Uni and ended up staying and as a result I have a very limited circle of people to play with (zero!) so am keen in getting involved and meeting some regular/new golf buddies

Mr Bunny - have you thought about Sheffield Golfit? I think its somewhere in the region of £500 per year (ish) and you get membership of the City Councils 4 muni courses including the excellent Tinsley Park and you also get gym membership of the councils fitness centres too.

Absolutely cracking deal if you ask me!

i joined my 1st club 5 months ago... my dad has played there and this year they had an offer whereby it was 1000€ for the 1st year green fees plus full membership... this is only if you have a family member in there already..its normally 1700€ membership and 660€ green fees its a 25 min drive from where i live.... theres also about 7 courses 10 mins from where i live but green fees at 1000€ per year and 4-5000€ memberships are if anything a little on the saucy side....

I live 15 minutes from the course and it has everything I need. Got a great welcome from old members when I rejoined and have fitted back in as though I had never left. The new course is a different world to the old one in the racecourse and I'm very happy
