So lets move on and just for the sake of genuine debate. If I went onto Howdidido and I noticed someone had used my name to post some scores and the comp committee were duped. Is there a way back, can it be amended, can that score made by the original golfer be uploaded and stand, should the genuine golfer be DQd, or what.

I know one load of results were amended at my club so can anyone shed some light on this important subject. After all, the last thing anyone would want is for their reputation to be in question.

Please don’t remove this subject. It’s a perfectly serious question that not only concerns all competition golfers but concerns the outstanding reputation of this forum.

As far as I am aware, the only way to amend results on howdidido would be to approach the club in question. At my club the results are posted automatically via the software that the club uses to arrange and record comps.

One would have to log on to the club software, reopen the recorded results, amend them and then repost the results.

Hope this helps.

There are at least 2 'J Griffiths' at my club, at one time two of us were both off 14. (i'm now labelled as JB Griffiths for identitiy purposes).

On the one occassion when the wrong scores were added to the wrong player - my H'cap went up in a comp I KNOW I didn't play in - the pro quickly rang howdidido and the error rectified in a very short space of time. The info had to come form the pro at the club - I couldn't ammend as it's linked to CONGU etc.

In short - errors can be made, especially if there are 2 players with the same name - but they are quickly undone too.

The format at my club for medal play is

1.Enter your membership No in the computer before teeing off (unless you 'forget')

2. Play your round, then enter your score in the computer (unless you had a bad round and dont want a N.R.)

This system is so open to abuse it beggars belief,i partnered a player who had a N/R in a medal, on the clubs website he was listed as finishing 3rd. The club accept what score you put in the computer, its not checked that you submit your card, and the onus is on any accuser of prove any wrongdoing.

At our club we have to sign in first on a sheet in the pro shop before playing a comp. Without physically signing in you are deemed not to have entered the comp.
Once the round is finished we each input our scores onto the "How Did I Do" PC. These scores are then subsequently checked by the competition secretary aginst the scorecard, and the pro shop sign in sheet. To my knowledge we've never had any issues with "impersonators" and the system we have in place works well.
To be honest if there were any 'discrepencies' in the system I imagine that the comp sec would have sufficient administrator rights to amend the system should it be neccessary.

DMC, what club is that? seems a strange setup for someone to have an NR and end up getting 3rd! I'd be like you changing clubs next year.
We enter our number into computer and sign a book before we play, then we enter our cards into computer after we finish. There's no getting away with a .1 at our club.

I've not had the pleasure of playing a comp where I have to enter scores myself. Do the cards get checked manually against the numbers you've put in? I hope so.
Where I used to play the Secretary used to enter them into the computer, all we had to do was put the card in a box a the door.

We log in before playing, enter the scores on the computer when he return.
Cards are checked--players have been disqualified for failing to sign cards.

no direct entry at mine and I don't envisage it happening (mainly because there is no secure/accessible area to put a PC).
enter in advance, pay on the day, cards in the box and early starters sign in afterward (though I only found that out when the box was moved from the 'club room' to the pro shop). The Secretary enters all the scores.
