Hobby - stressful = find another hobby. Life is for living, to many other things to get stressed about.
Absolutely zero on the stress levels for me.
Love playing. Love competing even more.
I'm not sure I'd have the same thoughts if I couldn't break 80. But that is just me, not a dig at anyone!!!
What is stopping you from getting down to 10?
I would be DELIGHTED to play off 5 even at 48I can get uptight now and then, also want to kick the cat now and then, even though I don't have one. The older I get the harder it is to stay at 5 and I get miffed big time the odd occasion, usually for a short period, when I go up to 5.5 or higher.
Like me, I think most people need to accept, what they actually have, might just be their limit.
At the end of the day, no one gets killed and I know absent friends who would love to be out there playing crap golf......... and how I would love them to be out there as well.
No natural ability I guess, ive had it all come together and shot sub 80 rounds but not consistantly enough to get my hc down.I have more natural ability at other things and could give golf up but golf can be addictive with the constant need to improve your score.Theres a patteren emerging with this thread, the low handicapers it seems enjoy their golf more, I guess cos they play the game the way its suppossed to be played, either with natural ability or hard work I HATE YOU
Out of the last ten rounds around 6 have been 84, 85 two late 80's and two low 80's.like I say when I knuckle down and practice have lessons, read books on the mental side of the game theres no improvement and then I just get fed up with it all.I could have not played for a year have a severe hangover use spalding clubs and shoot 85,use the best gear, have permanent lessons with David Leadbetter and be married to Britney Spears and I'd still shoot 85, although I proberly wouldn't give a dam about golf if I was married to Ms SpearsGetting to 10/12 isn't that hard, a lot is down to course management and not making bad decisions. I can scab it round with truly awful golf and play to hc/buffer, don't chase the Sunday best shots, eliminate the silly ones that compact problems and make impacts on your score card.
Same for me, love the game to bits. Realise there are worse things happening in the world and just feel privileged to be playing the game I love. Couldn't care anymore if I shot 75 or 115. Just as long as I had an enjoyable time.No stress at all......
Plenty of "f"s, cusses, frustration, annoyance and the rest....
But no stress.....

That's the same as me, you have reached a level and that's it, either get used to it and enjoy it and you might find yourself flying down or just keep beating yourself up, I know what I am choosing.Out of the last ten rounds around 6 have been 84, 85 two late 80's and two low 80's.like I say when I knuckle down and practice have lessons, read books on the mental side of the game theres no improvement and then I just get fed up with it all.I could have not played for a year have a severe hangover use spalding clubs and shoot 85,use the best gear, have permanent lessons with David Leadbetter and be married to Britney Spears and I'd still shoot 85, although I proberly wouldn't give a dam about golf if I was married to Ms Spears![]()
No stress at all. I believe I can improve but I don't fret over it and it's not like I'm busting a gut trying to do so by practicing for hours on end. It's frustrating at times, particularly when I make silly mistakes around the greens but I know that I don't practice enough to beat myself up over it.
